As Zibanejad is here for the long term and Chytil can't really play center, gotta see if acquiring Shane Pinto or Trevor Zegras is back on the table. Both can basically be a "3C" but in the way Kevin Hayes was for the first three years of his Rangers career.
There is absolutely nothing about zegras that will ever be like Kevin Hayes, and least of all zegras possibly playing the 3c position here that Hayes did.

Also acquiring Shane pinto was never on the table, the sens view him as they Norris insurance since Norris is completely physically falling apart.

Reading people complaining about players on a beach w significant others on off days is pretty funny, in the past there were players on legitimate drug binges during the playoffs and no one cared. Just so weird seeing what people complain about these days.

honestly now i think it's cool that Zibanejad basically stole his $8mil this year

There is no one way to build a winner, but generally all winners in recent memory have 3 elite players that are PO performers (usually 2Fs and a D, but not a G). You then supplement that core with quality depth, especially a great 3rd line that can pot goals.

We’ve never tanked long enough to be the Pens, Avs, Hawks or Bolts (they’re an anomaly any way), but there’s reason to believe we should be able to exceed what the Blues and Caps were able to put together.

Laf is a a star in the making and PO performer. Fox has been in prior years and is clearly an elite piece. Not sure Bread will be around long enough to matter and so far not close to a “PO performer.” Even if Perreault turns out to be that 3rd piece, we’ll have to pull it off w/ none of them being a C, which seems unprecedented. On the upside, we have a system full of what could potentially be elite 3rd line types and maybe our G can be enough of a difference make, but that’s a big risk given high paid Gs have minimal success in the cap era.

It’s going to take some creativity, but it does seem like we can get there, esp if we put ourselves in the opportunity to pounce if a high end C becomes available.
Caps had the best goal scorer of all time and the Blues were a once every two decades type of exception, an exception that had to be split among like 20 other teams for that once every two decades championship.

We need to focus on becoming as good as Chicago, Tampa, Colorado, or we won’t win a Cup.

Sunday morning musing about Rangers hockey. A few non-roster comments:

1. The city is an energy vampire. Ask people who move out. This doesn’t apply to every player, but I do think it’s a general factor.

2. The Rangers marketing team hypes up players who have in reality accomplished nothing. The players begin to think their shit doesn’t stink.

3. The Rangers public relations team simultaneously protects the players, actively helping them avoid media accountability.
4. Because the hype train is out of control, players get overpaid because public perception is that they are better than they really are, which is why we get no value contracts.

all these stories about "X team' partying and winning cups, etc. ... great.

Those teams had star players who knew where to find their game the next day...

This group looks like they're looking for lost luggage nearly every other game for long stretches these last 3 seasons/off seasons.

When they went up 2-0, and lost 4 straight to NJ... with arguably a better lineup than this year...

and yes, Florida was better... i get it.

But they played like @SS, at what they were suppossed to be good at.. special teams, they $hit the bed.

it's called sarcasm. look it up in the dictionary.

point is... its not a good look for these laid back jack@sses!

If you're such a smarty pants you'd know sarcasm doesn't convey well on a message board.

point is... it's got nothing to do with anything. Spending time with family on a day off is hardly being a laid back jackass. It's a ridiculous reach.

The thing about moving Kakko is that I’m not sure you can find a 23 year old 35 point plus defensive third line winger for $2.5m.

This is the last thing the Rangers should be thinking about moving.

Kakko is going to want out and he’s gonna get it
They can find a replacement let’s be real he hasn’t done much .

They needed a 3rd line that can score a bit and didn’t get it . Wennberg and Roslovic are gone too

Cuylee will get better
Hopefully Othmaan or Berard take a spot
UFAs like Foeggle

How? You say this all the time but how? Do we need to tank until we luck into drafting a McDavid or MacKinnon?

This team is much closer than our sore, open wounds will let us believe. They just took the vaunted Panthers to 6 games in the ECF with a crippled Fox, an AHL captain, and some sourdough starter.

I don’t think Panarin is going to come around in the playoffs. It’s just not his game. But it might not matter if he’s flanked by Trocheck and the next evolution of Laf.

If Fox is healthy next year and Trouba is painting the Chicago or Buffalo skyline I like our chances against anyone again.

You need to consult Cap Friendly and tell us how to accomplish a big shakeup.

You need to check how his salary is parsed. 80-90% bonus.

Untradeable, unless someone has a comparable contract to match.
Why is it untradeable? Plenty of teams can afford to pay the bonus

Took a peek at panthers situation for next year on capfriendly. Giving reinhart 11m will slaughter their depth. They have a ton of holes to fill and not a lot of money. Id gladly trade that for a cup though

If Igor’s reps won’t go below 7x11.5, are you moving him?

You can’t let him walk for nothing.

Yes I am moving him.

Also, trading Kreider is idiotic. Just move him away from Zibanejad. He plays well with Chytil.

I’m still in favor of signing Perron, Roy, Dillon and Blueger.

Move Trouba, Lindgren and Goodrow. Ample cap space

Merle claims Rangers players had their girlfriends on the trip.
Stayin at the Ritz Carlton Ranger players were on the beach with their girlfriends playing football on their day off.
Who gives a shit? Better than getting f***ed up, but even if they did that, you need to unwind or you will snap.

You basically are saying why this team wouldn't win anyways, but are still mad they had a rest day? Then no rest days at all?

Also, you can just say "ass" and "shit".

Continuing to draft high for longer was the smart move.

They have to fix the 1C issue. Knowing that is independent of knowing which team they can get to say yes in a trade. They have to be actively making those calls.

Doing that is basically the same difficulty as the Blues one off win.
It’s not. I just named three that did it in a decade.

You are selling the team short. It’s not impossible especially considering the war chest they once had.

How many teams hasn't?
It’s statistically more likely that you can turn into a Colorado or Tampa or Chicago than you can be among the other 20+ teams and be in last place in January and then go on a miracle run and win the Cup.

Both are hard. The easiest thing to do is just throw your hands up and keep losing in the second or third round of the playoffs like this team has done.

If they want to win, they can’t just hope lightning strikes. Improve your team. Try to reach the next contender level which they clearly are not at currently.

Get Trouba out of here and go big game 1C hunting. That would put them closer. They have to stop saying “we were right there with everyone, the dice just didn’t roll our way.” Go rig the dice. Get overwhelming talent. Get into that top tier that there are usually 2-3 teams in and we are not.

Feels like that elusive 1C would either be a player who BECOMES the 1C rather than we trade for a built in one. The defense can be fixed, focus on that. its realistic
