Brady tkachuk has been in the nhl for 6 years, has been a ppg player once in his career.
He’s been captain for 3 years and his team has been talented but a bottom feeder for the entire time.
He brings “tuffness” and stupid penalties and absolutely has cost his team wins, with those stupid penalties.
The obsession with him is beyond insane.
Are the rangers moving one of Ck,Panarin, Mika or trocheck? Because if not he’s not getting pp1 time, and he’s not getting close to a ppg again then.
I mean he’s definitely good…. Some think he sucks and that’s just not accurate…
If your top 6 is starved for what he brings, he’s even more enticing…… I think he had 1 more even strength pt then laf this season.
OTT on paper should have been a playoff team last season.
Their D is suspect. Zub is a solid 3. Sanderson is going to be a good 1, but he’s still young and rough around the edges.
Chabot is overpaid and soft.
Chychrun is adequately paid and soft. They are both redundant.
Other guys like Klevin need time and are untested…and they have suspect goaltending…
Fomention was a good bottom sixer for them, lost to the hockey Canada incident.
Pinto gambling suspension
Norris is too erratic for his contract he got.
Stutzle is very talented and very soft as well. Contender for Diving champion of the league.
And had an ownership for too many years worried about pinching Pennies and making value deals instead of doing what’s best for the team….
It’s just not a city that players want to go to..
Sanderson/Greig/pinto/Tkachuk/stuz/zub/batherson is a solid base to build around… but they need a lot in a lot more areas..
Debrincat is gonna bolt. Etc
sometimes just seeing the revolving door of good players not wanting to stay in that environment, of being traded for financial reasons, etc wears on you.
I wouldn’t want Tkachuk as a captain here, or even wearing an A….
But he certainly would help change the dynamic in the top 6.
He’d be the heir apparent to Kreider in front of the net on the PP…..
Whether you have him and laf on opposite wings or on diff lines, it certainly spices up the gumbo.
He would in theory create more room for a guy like zibby or panarin as well .
Hes just not a player I’d sell the farm for. If you can get him at an acceptable price, sure.
Tkachuk on a team like NYR, that’s a perennial contender for the next 3-5 years maybe longer, with a tight knit team/coach/system big city atmosphere etc could without a doubt turn into a plus for NYR.
Sometimes it just takes guys getting off a loser to succeed. Look at Eichel
