Even if they split Kreider and Zibanejad, which I have extreme doubts that they would even consider it, they’d be back together at the first sign of poor play and never be broken up again

Unless one or the other finds themselves in the middle of a combo that just works.

Lavi does some stuff that I don't love, but he isn't going to break up a working combo for shits and giggles.

Zero interest in Laime.

Zegras doesn’t really solve our issues but would be fun to get him. Plus he is a C
I wouldn't touch Laine with a 10 foot pole. (always hurt/never happy no matter where he is, soft as hell)

I don't think Zegras makes that big an impact here. He's flashy, but not a complete player. People would be looking to trade him after his first season with the Rangers.

The guy i want from the Ducks is McTavish. I bet he is their next captain in my opinion

Brady tkachuk has been in the nhl for 6 years, has been a ppg player once in his career.
He’s been captain for 3 years and his team has been talented but a bottom feeder for the entire time.
He brings “tuffness” and stupid penalties and absolutely has cost his team wins, with those stupid penalties.
The obsession with him is beyond insane.

Are the rangers moving one of Ck,Panarin, Mika or trocheck? Because if not he’s not getting pp1 time, and he’s not getting close to a ppg again then.

What kind of winning did Matt do for Calgary? Whole lotta nothing.

He’s not Matt, but he’s an excellent player and the point is a player’s story isn’t written at 24 years old. It doesn’t matter if the impact wasn’t as all that nice for trash Ottawa. What matters is what would be his impact here, and I don’t doubt for one second that it’d be high.

Same can be said for Eichel in Buffalo. Taking talented players out of bad environments is generally a good idea.

Ottawa also had the worst goaltending in the league. If you swapped our goalies and their goalies, Ottawa would have gotten in and we'd be NJ 2.0 from last season.

Did anyone question Nash when he got moved here from the dumpster fire that was Columbus because he didn't win there?

I'm not saying we should dump a trunk full of assets for him, but he'd be a very good player here.

The argument of taking Tkachuk out of Ottawa is a good one. There is a point there. But the questions for our team would be adding him on RW, which he doesn't play, to our top 6, where he won't get PP time. Would he still be effective getting time as Kreider and Zs RW? Would his PP2 time with that unit make any difference?

We aren't trading Kreider or Z or Panarin for him. Let that go.

He is a good player. Can our better coaches and leadership reel him in to playing a more controlled physical game?

And then we have to talk about the trade. Chytil, Lindgren, Othmann and a 1st to start. Laf won't be the ask. These players never get traded for the package you think. But that is still big. What's the money to fill out the rest of the lineup?

I think Laf can be our Matt Tkachuk already. But I like craziness. So f*** it. Let's see what happens.

Also, he isn't available per their GMs comments.

Not directly, but indirectly yes. Probably Kreider would fetch a haul to be used in a Tkachuk package.

Kreider return + Perreault is a good base for a formidable offer. Figure out picks, other prospects, and mid tier pieces from there. I’d give my left nut to get Tkachuk added to Laf/Fox for the next 10 years

No offense, but c'on, this is absolutely ridiculous and will make people wonder if you even watched him this season.

His skating was NOTICABLE better, with the puck, without the puck, in the corners, through the neutral zone etc, and was one of the big reasons why he had a breakout season.

You can't be serious to gauge skating based solely on whatever top speed he achieved for half a second.
Top speed on the charts may be the same, but his explosion/separation were certainly different.
His legs were certainly moving more throughout the games this year as well.
Don’t take my word for it, or even what your eyes see watching him skate this year opposed to last, but laf himself said in the interview on nhl.com that his skating was one of the main things he worked at getting better last offseason…. He also talked about getting to open areas of the ice faster to put himself into better position without the puck….
But maybe we can show him a top speed chart and tell him there was no noticeable difference…. Com’on.

Not nearly enough ....they would want Lafreniere + for him and if the money would work.....it would be very tempting . Lafreniere looked great at times in the playoffs whereas Brady brings it every single game on a bad team and he gets his pound of flesh at every chance....and fears no one and has been a proven player since his day 1 of entering the league . He would be the ultimate player for us and a a big time leader .
They wouldn’t get laf, even if they wanted him, but you’re right. They aren’t accepting that offer either..

A trade for Tkachuk would feel like a gut punch

Think miller/perrault

I mean he’s definitely good…. Some think he sucks and that’s just not accurate…
If your top 6 is starved for what he brings, he’s even more enticing…… I think he had 1 more even strength pt then laf this season.
OTT on paper should have been a playoff team last season.
Their D is suspect. Zub is a solid 3. Sanderson is going to be a good 1, but he’s still young and rough around the edges.
Chabot is overpaid and soft.
Chychrun is adequately paid and soft. They are both redundant.
Other guys like Klevin need time and are untested…and they have suspect goaltending…
Fomention was a good bottom sixer for them, lost to the hockey Canada incident.
Pinto gambling suspension
Norris is too erratic for his contract he got.
Stutzle is very talented and very soft as well. Contender for Diving champion of the league.
And had an ownership for too many years worried about pinching Pennies and making value deals instead of doing what’s best for the team….
It’s just not a city that players want to go to..
Sanderson/Greig/pinto/Tkachuk/stuz/zub/batherson is a solid base to build around… but they need a lot in a lot more areas..
Debrincat is gonna bolt. Etc

sometimes just seeing the revolving door of good players not wanting to stay in that environment, of being traded for financial reasons, etc wears on you.
I wouldn’t want Tkachuk as a captain here, or even wearing an A….
But he certainly would help change the dynamic in the top 6.
He’d be the heir apparent to Kreider in front of the net on the PP…..
Whether you have him and laf on opposite wings or on diff lines, it certainly spices up the gumbo.

He would in theory create more room for a guy like zibby or panarin as well .
Hes just not a player I’d sell the farm for. If you can get him at an acceptable price, sure.

Tkachuk on a team like NYR, that’s a perennial contender for the next 3-5 years maybe longer, with a tight knit team/coach/system big city atmosphere etc could without a doubt turn into a plus for NYR.
Sometimes it just takes guys getting off a loser to succeed. Look at Eichel

And that's why I don't do it in reality. Robbing Peter to pay Paul. You either get him for the package mentioned, or you don't do it cause the team is worse now and in the future.

In fantasy where they accept that package? Yes.

I'm gonna jump off a building.
Hah. Pretty typical 1 yr show me contract…
Expecting Kakko here for the duration probably isn’t a good idea. Unless he comes out at the start of next season with his hair on fire scoring goals and piling up some points (eg Laf) he’ll likely be gone sooner then later.
His value is probably too low to move him currently, and if Kakko is harboring and I’ll-will from the scratch/usage/deployment, a 1yr deal get him closer to FA so he can sign wherever and dictate his destiny

I’m betting on a very team friendly deal with no trade protection for Lindgren coming soon. He’s got no leverage. I think Drury is dying for a reason to deal Lindgren and if he’s asking for 4+ that’s crazy. Chatfield just got 3 and puts up way more offense. Makes him easier to trade like Kakko as well. I like the Minnesota/Middleton idea

Well...

NYR gave the Panthers a better run than the oilers have so far in their series (even with the oilers having mcjesus) and the biggest reason is goaltending.

Watching the conference finals and then watching the finals we can all see the difference of having a stud in net versus an average goalie that you hope doesn't lose you a series.

Can't believe sometimes how many people consistently disregard having a top 2 goalie in the league. You didn't throw that away. You need a competent management to properly support that kind of elite player.

The only team friendly deal that involves Lindgren is a trade deal.

any Finnish UFAs for Kakko to play with ?

Tuerovainen ?
Teuvo is a great middle 6 player with strong defensive capabilities. Sadly, I don't think he's what this team needs. He'll make our strengths stronger but won't move the needle on our weaknesses. I imagine he's going to get at least $5M AAV

I understand your thinking but some really great players have been traded. I do not see any of them outside of maybe Laf/Igor as untouchable. Even Laf and Igor would be available for the right deal. If Colorado offered Mckinnon and Makar for Laf and Fox would the Rangers turn it down?
No I wouldn't but one is a top 3 player in the game and the other is a Norris trophy winning Dman so let's be realistic. Those players are locked up early in their careers and very rarely traded until possibly later in their careers.
