The Rangers actually have quite a few guys who play with an edge at forward coming up through the pipeline. Sykora and Berard are PIA player types. Edstrom and Rempe obviously. Cuylle is a 3rd liner as a rookie and a guy like Chmelar play a big heavy game.

I like Othmann a lot and would prefer to keep him but if you’re getting a top-6 23 year old center like Zegras it makes some sense

Othmann has a higher upside than any prospect not named Perrault. Kakko is the odd man out imo if they are moving a young winger

why is it likely they got into a personal conflict?
Word from a guy who knows Buch.

To answer the Q - guess bc he got traded, and he liked it here. Liked by the teammates (Carp tweeted just that at the time). But I also think it could be something to do with Drury and how he handled everything.

I honestly can't see how this organization moves Berard. He's absolutely lighting it up in the A. He scored again tonight. 18 points in his last 21.

Rempe and Edstrom have done what was needed, but man was I hoping we'd see this kid.

Othmann and Perrault should be off limits, but Berard is going to be a good player. I'd like a much better player in return than Vatrano. I'd rather trade our 1st this year instead.

Zegras is the type that would suck on the 3rd line. Not good defensively. i want centers to be defensively responsible, not ones that when arent scoring is kinda useless on the ice.

I have a real problem giving up good prospects for Vatrano. He's seriously gonna be way overpriced given what's available

This. Vatrano and Henrique, without heavy minutes and PP1 time (which neither would get here) are 30-ish point players. Not bad, but stupid to pay top line prices to acquire.

Fun fact, Kakko had 37 ES points last season. Vatrano has never had 37 ES points in a season. Henrique did it once--nearly 15 years ago. Those two won't produce here the way they have in Anaheim because they won't be used in top-line, all situations here.

Plus, Henrique hasn't had a playoff point (and only a couple of playoff games) since 2011. We went through this with Nash. Playoff experience is valuable.

Keep Kakko. Keep the prospects. Move a draft pick or two on a guy like Dowd or Reilly Smith to bolster the team's depth. MAYBE splurge on Tarasenko if the price is right.

Yea, who needs a guy that has 28 goals so far this year.

11 were on the PP so those don't matter as we all know Vatrano would never see our PP1 unit. You don't pay the price for what the player can produce on a shit team (playing at least a line above his actual skill level). You pay the price for what he will be on this team. If Anaheim wants the former, that's fine. Move on to another option who will do JUST as well on the Rangers but for a third of the acquisition cost.

I think Novak and Lauzon would be solid options that would not cost much especially Lauzon.

Personally I rather go low depth moves. They tried big moves last year and did not help.

He's gonna take up all our money tho

They were spot on with even bigger moves the year before. Who wouldn't take Copp if we could afford him

Buch would've have made so much sense for this team with a healthy Chytil - they are sort of interchangeable in the sense both can play RW and C. Buch more of a RW obviously, Chyt more of a C.

I'd rather trade Kakko. Wolfpack are in a playoff spot too. I'm sure Drury will try to keep Berard Sykora
So the wolf pack playoffs are more important than the nyr playoffs? Nyr need to add from the roster and not delete from it. Vatrano is fine but not for his price. Having a career year on a young team where he gets a ton of pp time where he’ll get like 30 seconds a game here. You need guys who can push the pace and get the puck in the ozone esp for kz. They’ve been horrible at the transition. In a way that team needs a modern day hagelin. A guy you can throw the puck into the ozone and retrieve it and then let kz cycle in the ozone. I don’t know if that guy is available but removing kakko your removing a big element from the 3rd line(who you would then need to replace), esp since him & cuylle work so well together.

I'm all about another option if the cost is too high but lets not downplay his 29 goals this year. This is annoying. He's been good and potted 2 ES goals tonight. The 11 goals on the PP means he has 18 ES goals. That's pretty damn good.

NYR: 1st, conditional 3rd (becomes 2nd with SCF appearance), Sykora, Jones, BMB
SEA: Gourde 50%, Eberle 50%

Or

NYR: 4th
OTT: Tarasenko

NYR: 3rd, Jones
SEA: Wennberg 50%

The former should allow them to add a defenseman of quality. The latter likely ties up the rest of their cap space. Maybe they could get a depth D with 50% retention. I love Vlad but I prefer the former. And yes Kane still would have been my pick over Eberle and Tarasenko. I don’t think we can get Guentzel. I doubt Crosby is moved although he would be my target #1 if he was open to a trade. Zucc is someone who has crossed my mind with 50% retention. I think Toffoli would be an interesting add. Buch ain’t happening.

Then there is a plethora of middle 6 wingers who would be in a 2nd tier. MoJo, Duclair, Okposo, Mantha. Brock Nelson — he produces. Kapanen. Tolvanen. Labanc. Texier. Tuch. Gurianov. Beauvilier

For me Vatrano is Fool’s Gold. He won’t get PP1 time here. Then what? You are going to pay for a stock that is at an all time high on the market. This is an outlier.

If Drury has the stones to move Goodrow it changes a lot. Gus could be moved as well to negotiate the cap space and capitalize on his strong 1st half that may be still at the forefront of GM minds.

Style of play, he's someone we haven't had in a long time, an Adam Graves type, can play rough, score goals, fight, has a bit of a mean streak. All of that. He's the type of player you go looking for at every deadline or offseason. My current comparison of him is Jt.Miller, and he will likely take a while to get to a high level in the pros like JT, due to style of play. They don't come around often, especially at league minimum. We can all pretty much agree we'd like a do-over of moving on from Miller.
Do you know that it wasn’t until his 8th season from the time when he first broke into the NHL for JT Miller to become his current version? Starting the count from 24-25 if I’m not mistaken it would correspond to 2030-2031 season if Othmann repeated “do-over” JTM style. Just saying…
