Vatrano has 11 goals and 6 assists on the PP this year. He is not going to be getting PP1 time here. So we are going to pay a premium for a guy having a “good year” on a bad team with force fed minutes? And that price will be even higher for retention. Would rather just see what the cost would be for Guentzel at that point.

But just go get Eberle and Gourde/Wennberg. Or Tarasenko and Wennberg. Tarasenko probably won’t cost much because Rangers wont be able to acquire with retention. Its too bad Detroit keeps winning, Kane’s contract is manageable. What about Zucc at 50%? The options are out there. Would BUF deal Tuch?

Yup.

Was a legit Ranger fan though.
Yes, and like Quick he used to play against my brother when they were teenagers
Close enough. He self describes as a New Yorker. Story is he cried when the Rangers didn’t draft him.
lmao close enough!! Pacioretty, Quick, Drury, LEETCH... We don't have that much, let us have what we do have haha

He should demand a trade here
Then we'll overpay for him anyway. See Martin St.Louis.

The fact some of you think Othmann should be kept over kakko is laughable. And it shows shiny new toy syndrome

Kakko is already a far superior player than othmann. Not that othmann can’t continue to get better but come on

Kakko should only be moved for a zegras type. And with that said I’d rather the main piece in that trade be othmann
Why not keep both?

There are worse options

He can't stay healthy, waste of assets for a guy that won't make it past the first round before getting hurt

Vatrano is on a heater. I think Drury gets him no matters what it takes, and we need to prepare to lose a piece we don't really want to lose.

I’d consider a deal for Zegras that has Othmann in it
So you want the Rangers to have a finesse soft team in the top 6 like the Leafs. Finese hockey doesn't work in the playoffs. Another defensive liability. I like Zegras but that is a draft trade move. Othmann brings something most of the Rangers lack, is attitude, physical play and good skill. Id trade Kakko before Othmann. Kakko has more trade value.

Vatrano would clearly help this team a lot. A shooter on a team of passers and a good fit in the locker room. My concern is the cost. And I’m morally opposed to Henrique. If we can get Frankie for Sykora/Berard and a pick, I can live with that. Don’t trade Kakko for him.

I'd rather trade Kakko. Wolfpack are in a playoff spot too. I'm sure Drury will try to keep Berard Sykora and get help for the Wolfpack as well as help for the Rangers. He has some work to do. Trading Berard makes the Pack much worse even if it means helping the Rangers. Would be nice to see the Pack and Rangers doing well in the playoffs.

I'm just not seeing all the passers on the team. Guys pass cause it's a team game and passing up a shot to create a higher quality one is what the game is nowadays, at least with our coach.
Kreider is an incredible player who can't pass.
Mika has been ass all year, but when he's on, it's as a shooter.
Kakko and Trocheck aren't out there making great passes. Neither are Cuylle and Brodz.
Panarin is an elite puckmover.... who's having a career year because he's shooting more.
Laf is the one who hits a solid middle ground.
Wheeler was the guy, but way past his prime with everything else, and done for the year.

No one is saying they are good at passing, they just do it too much. Watching Vatrano tonight he shoots everything. We need more of that especially in the playoffs. Mika and Kreider might give up zone time with Frank, but that line will definitely score more. I don’t want to trade Kakko, but we’re much more likely to get 6-7 playoff goals from Vatrano than Kakko in That spot.

I have a real problem giving up good prospects for Vatrano. He's seriously gonna be way overpriced given what's available

I’m open to other options but who is legitimately out there? I’m hoping on Eberle. Guentzel and Buch are a pipe dream. They can’t stand Pat obviously.
