Listening to the PDOcast trade deadline special they suggested:

STL: Kakko, Lindgren, NYR 1st, Ottawa 2nd
OTT: Parayko, Goodrow, Othmann
NYR: Chychrun, Buchnevich

Too rich for my blood but I appreciate them recognizing Goodrow and Lindgren are players that need to be moved to improve this team.
St. Louis would want more I think. I’d do it from the Rangers perspective, both have 2 playoff runs at positions of need.

Something tells me you're not getting Lindgren and Fox split up so a move for a D other than depth is moot.

I'm at about 75/25 we get a significant trade. Someone with another year on their deal and maybe retention. Just a gut feeling.

I'm completely fine with some depth moves though. I'm convinced we just need to park Kakko at 1RW and it will work out.
Ok. So if it's a "significant" trade and we keep KK, who are we giving up to land this significant piece?

I'm fine with your theory, curious with who or what you, or anybody else is willing to give up when they post about who they want to get.

lol imagine giving up all of that just to get Buchnevich back

He's not an ideal top 6 guy or a flashy name for that RW spot (which we all know the Rangers love), but how far of a drop off is he from a Vlad, Vatrano, etc.?

He would be an upgrade over Wheeler or Kakko, even if slightly. He competes. Has size. Can skate and is a solid F1 getting in and there was that remark regarding his high danger passing, which that line could use.

I'd rather try and get a guy like this for a lot less who can fit into this lineup and provides a spark and produces 5 on 5.
Agree. What are you willing to pay?

Will's girl saying on Vince's podcast that Seattle and Eberle arent too close on contract talks. They are playing well but its an uphill battle for them to make the playoffs.

Also mentioned 2024 draft is D heavy. Id be more open to trading the 2025 1st if thats the case. I know everyone thinks center but we need defense in the pipeline more. Mika/Trocheck are going nowhere soon.

There’s a few guys in Chicago that I think would be good targets for middle six depth. Larmer. Noonan. Matteau. Don’t think we’d need to give up a first to get one or two of them.

id give up Othmann and two 1sts for 1994 Steve Larmer

If it's true Drury doesnt like him (i havent seen it confirmed anywhere), I would assume it has to do with the car accident in Sheepshead Bay that broke Igor's ribs and caused him to miss a few weeks his rookie year.
While it doesn't explain the possible "dislike" between the parties, it definitely explains why the Rangers sent him packing, especially at such a low return. To me, this says he'll never wear a Rangers uni again.

Maybe '88 Steve Larmer. By '94 he was pretty much done. We squeezed the last out of him for that run & it was over.

nah he was still awesome. he quit hockey because he hated the trap and the clutching and grabbing. the '94 team wasnt even that good until they got him in November.

That post covid Ranger team had too many guys who had big mouths. Tony D, Lemiuex, Buch apparently. Clearly management was not about it. The Rangers moved on from all of them and brought in work ethic guys who had won before. We've been a top team in the league since. If Buch was ultimately a casualty to repair a broken locker room, it explains a good amount in hindsight.

You are talking about the 3rd line going to shit as well.

That was never a line when he was with them back then
I know short sample size but the third line with Cuylle and Kakko looked good. Playing Kakkos and Cuylle's style. Seemed to mesh well. Would be such a huge boost for this team if they could do that in the playoffs

Drury better be fired if he did something so dumb

This is a good move.

He's an insurance D with some size, aggression and NHL experience. Didn't play great during preseason but was fine the one game he got in with the Rangers this year. He was a very sought after undrafted college player when he turned pro. A lot of teams wanted him.....but he's struggled at holding onto an NHL job.
