He's an insurance D with some size, aggression and NHL experience. Didn't play great during preseason but was fine the one game he got in with the Rangers this year. He was a very sought after undrafted college player when he turned pro. A lot of teams wanted him.....but he's struggled at holding onto an NHL job.

He is definitely a better option next year than Harpoon.

Vince saying on his podcast that a scout told him Zac Jones would be starting on 40% of the league's defense. That says to me that he has real value. I think dealing him makes a lot of sense if you can get a similar guy at forward.

Will's girl saying on Vince's podcast that Seattle and Eberle arent too close on contract talks. They are playing well but its an uphill battle for them to make the playoffs.

Also mentioned 2024 draft is D heavy. Id be more open to trading the 2025 1st if thats the case. I know everyone thinks center but we need defense in the pipeline more. Mika/Trocheck are going nowhere soon.
Eberle is the obvious answer here. So is Seeler from Philly honestly. Everything else kind of dependent on other stuff but those are your two no brainer moves

Draft is D heavy in the lotto. We aren’t picking in the lotto. Talent drop off after 15-20. Would rather have the right deal than a 1st; either way not going to be sanctimonious about holding onto it

Something tells me you're not getting Lindgren and Fox split up so a move for a D other than depth is moot.

I'm at about 75/25 we get a significant trade. Someone with another year on their deal and maybe retention. Just a gut feeling.

I'm completely fine with some depth moves though. I'm convinced we just need to park Kakko at 1RW and it will work out.
no, not anytime soon
CHEMISTRY IS OFTEN IMPORTANT
KK sometimes out due to injury, yes
but
other times jerked around lineup
kid line played well
LaF advanced, Chytil injured
now chem w/Cuyl + Brodz
run with that until we get an upgrade for Brodz

Eventually KK has the tools, eventually he will master + have enuf skating etc to dominate at a high level
DO NOT TRADE

Friedman mentioning Kyle Okposo for the Rangers, I think @NYR Viper mentioned him a few weeks back. If we want to replace the 35+ year old skating in mud role on the top 6, I think he is perfect. He's and Islander and cant remember the last time he played in the playoffs. hard pass unless he is cheap as free i guess.
zero and no are not negative enuf

Kakko on first line experiment needs to end. We actually had a very good third line but of course not so much now.
They are actually driving his trade value down if that's why they are playing him on line 1. Sure he gets a few minutes more per game but he looks completely lost on that line
Yes, concur
keep KK + Cuyl + for now Brodz

Frank doesn't think the Wild will sell anything interesting. They will trade Duhaime and maybe Bogosian and Maroon. It's looking more and more likely that Vatrano and Henrique are the targets.

1st + prospect + Goodrow for Vatrano and Henrique?

Goodrow included to make the money work. Maybe the Ducks will want Goodrow to improve the room. IDK.
God no
stop giving up vets for youth

at some pt we can retain on Good down to 2.0, and at that pt move him for a conditional 7th
NO need to surrender quality youth assets

Listening to the PDOcast trade deadline special they suggested:

STL: Kakko, Lindgren, NYR 1st, Ottawa 2nd
OTT: Parayko, Goodrow, Othmann
NYR: Chychrun, Buchnevich

Too rich for my blood but I appreciate them recognizing Goodrow and Lindgren are players that need to be moved to improve this team.
Also beyond no
Other than Gabe P + larger +
for
Sanderson + smaller +
no interest w/OTT, projected to be too expensive

==============
Lindgren + Jones + two 3rds NOW
to
AZ for 2 2nds
play Robertson, cup o coffee Scanlin

If Buch is blocking a trade back here, f*** him. Holding a grudge for 3 years over getting traded is a sign of immaturity.
who knows if he's still feisty about it.

but if anything NYR can't be smug re being mature when it comes to (sort of)top tier talent.

Here
Lower level like BMB? Laba? Robertsson?
If they feel so inclined.

Robertsson id be a little hesitant with considering there isnt much depth there, especially since Gus could walk

He legit took a slap shot on a breakaway and scored.
on a penalty shot lol

that year was so full of moments, man.

That might be true with Jones. But it should be kept in mind that 50% of the teams don't make the playoffs. The deeper a team gets into the playoffs....the more fierce and physical the play gets and it's not that I think Jones is a bad player but it's questionable to me that he could hold up very long put into that kind of a situation. In such a situation I'd rather take my chances with Harpur just because of corner and board battles that will happen in our own end.....he might not be great and a plodding skater but running into him is like running into a wall and he can pin guys and not get run over in his crease. Jones is a much better skater and mover of the puck but as the Rangers are currently constructed he's not going to get the power play time or create enough offense to justify inclusion in our lineup over Mackey or even Harpur in a playoff situation. Not that it matters with Harpur as I'm sure his season ended with injury months ago.

It's also why I wouldn't mind getting another insurance D at the deadline.

Seeler, Merrill, Edmundson, all guys I would not mind as a #7. Jones can move the puck but he can't move bodies enough for me to ever be confident in him playing a bottom pair role in the playoffs. I think he can put up points as PPQB for a rebuilder.
