Buch was commenting crying emojis on the IG Live of our player intro of your home opener in the first game since the trade, and dedicated his HockeyFightsCancer card to our equipment manager. Zucc threw us under the bus and also brings less outside of offense than Buch does. No way would I prefer him over Buch, I don't think Zucc would even want to be here

Theres a 1% chance of it actually happening but Buch is a perfect fit for our needs. If there wasnt history between him and the Rangers everyone would be willing to move Kakko+ for him.

He'll wind up scoring over 100 points next year if he goes to EDM. I prefer that to him coming back east

Minny is dead in the water, I would at least make a call over there about Hartman and/or Middleton if I was Drury.

Buch is not happening. Drury doesn’t like him.

People keep saying that and will probably say it again next year if we're in a good spot, and the year after as well. It's always time to go for it in some people's minds. This is the mentality that shortens competitive windows and results in no cups. It's the same mentality we've had forever.

I'm not saying we shouldn't add anyone, but we need to be smart about it rather than just spending big on the biggest names.
Yeah. It's always presented as something that trumps good sense & long-term development (imo the best way to go)

There's always a middle ground between selling the farm and going all in. Drury hasnt led us astray with his deadline actions in the past and I dont expect he will now. Our long term development at this point is building a team in the post Igor/Panarin world, Im ok with adding immediate help given where we are in our trajectory.

Here
No one said anything about a first. If Drury was willing to give up a first for Vatrano he would be here already.

The forechecking numbers are a key for me. Anyone who can get in and create space for Mika and Kreider.
He's not an ideal top 6 guy or a flashy name for that RW spot (which we all know the Rangers love), but how far of a drop off is he from a Vlad, Vatrano, etc.?

He would be an upgrade over Wheeler or Kakko, even if slightly. He competes. Has size. Can skate and is a solid F1 getting in and there was that remark regarding his high danger passing, which that line could use.

I'd rather try and get a guy like this for a lot less who can fit into this lineup and provides a spark and produces 5 on 5.

If Zucc didn't have that contract till he was 46 he woulda been great as a distributor and puck carrier from the right side.

Reilly Smith seems cooked but uhhh why not. Him and some plumber on defense , in out 20 minute low cost adventure.

Right, he has not been bad as some ... however we have still given up draft picks & Morgan Barron (a decent player imo) for rentals. Patrick Kane last year annoyed me - it seemed like it was done for marketing as much as anything.

Neither Buch or Zucc are happening.
Our old friend Webster was here last week, while he was furiously spamming the search function for new mentions of the word "Zuccarello" he saw we were talking about him and said Zucc doesn't hold a grudge anymore and would return to NY. BRING BACK ZUCC! (But not Webster)

I think if you got a few pints in Drury at Penn 6 he'd tell you how much of a mistake the Kane deal was. Otherwise, I think he gets high marks for his ability to identify guys who fit the needs of the team. He isnt a dummy, he has been around this team for a decade now. It's looking more and more like a buyer's market imo. There is a large gap between the contenders and bubble teams. GMs are going to start getting realistic with themselves after this weekend.

I just see the McDonagh deal when we traded him for 1.5 years remaining on his contract as a decent comparable.

2 good, albeit mid-ish tier prospects, a 1st this year, and a conditional mid round pick that can become another 1st if we win the cup.

Prospects being 2 of our prospects that are not Perreault or Othmann.

I figure 1 of Sykora/Berard, and 1 of Robertson/BCB/Laba

I mean the only winger I’ve seen linked to them that actually makes sense is Eberle.

Wennberg probably makes more sense than most of the centers they’ve been linked with; especially if Nashville isn’t selling.

I guess what I am saying is they should be talking to Francis instead of Verbeek
