I don't like it any more than you do to be honest but I think we just wind up living with Brod at center. really don't want a Nico Sturm type especially with Goodrow stapled to the lineup and I personally don't have a better realistic idea.

Wennberg is a guy we've been linked too that I think is a perfect fit for that role. Seattle is playing well but they are still 7 points back and need to jump 3 teams. Eberle and Gourde would cost a lot but I feel like Wennberg is a straight rental we could pry from them even if they are still in the mix.

Add Wennberg & one of Foegele/Zucker. Keep the 1sts and prospects. Id be happy with that kind of deadline.

That rule about not being able to acquire Tarasenko with retention would apply to Kane as well I would assume (although I doubt Kane is traded and if he was, his cap hit is manageable)

This board hates everything

I wouldnt rule out Tarasenko completely, Rangers could always have a 3rd party retain no?

Minnesota Wild are playing like garbage, and now basically out of the playoffs. They have one more year of salary cap hell before they can really compete again. Maybe we can pry someone useful from them?

Why would the Oilers trade a good roster piece?
Apparently to free up space for Guentzel or Buch

rumor is they'd clear his cap hit to add a guentzel or buch type. they don't really have a choice if that's the way they go. no cap space at all and no one else has an easy to move hit. think Vatrano when he was with FLA.

LMAO that's brain dead. Either Fridge or (much worse for us obv) Drury.

It's the type of mindless speculation I expect from Friedman. He obviously has the scoops but he puts way too much stock in name value and never thinks about fit or play style.

But the guy plays 13.5 minutes. In Buffalo. And he's 36 in a month and a fortnight. I just wonder why he would 'think of' a guy like this for the NYR

Sole reason is because he's an American W.

I wouldn't take him for free.

At least go for Pacioretty if we're going for an antique

40 years ago Edmonton had a 23 year old LW. They moved him to center for the playoffs and he won a cup and a Conn Smythe.

Fulfill the prophecy. Laffy to center.

Ive always thought Kakko would be a good center based on his neutral zone play.

Foegele is one of the more exciting options at the deadline which just goes to show how terrible this deadline is. I think he has another year at 2.75 as well. Great forechecking presence. I’d almost prefer to have him alongside Panarin and move Laf up to the Zibanejad line.

Oilers need cap space if they want to make a bigger move. Guentzel is who they want. They don't have any other contracts that aren't multi year hits or key pieces that can be moved otherwise.

Would be similar to how the Rangers got Vatrano for cheap.

The absolute lack of Rangers rumors and it being pretty much all conjecture from scouts at games tells me Drury is cookin'.

The closest thing we've had to an actual solid report is, of all people, Emily Kaplan announcing how Drury said we won't be moving GP or Othmann.

I’d rather bring home Zucc than Buch.
Buch was commenting crying emojis on the IG Live of our player intro of your home opener in the first game since the trade, and dedicated his HockeyFightsCancer card to our equipment manager. Zucc threw us under the bus and also brings less outside of offense than Buch does. No way would I prefer him over Buch, I don't think Zucc would even want to be here
