So I missed the drama on why Buchnevich is being traded with term in the first place apparently.

But as much as I’d hate it, he is the quality of player you could see Othmann moved for. Which is absurd given what we previously gave up for him of course

Pipe dream is Crosby.

Guentzel unlikely as well.

Detroit won’t be selling.

Eberle/Gourde
Eberle/Wennberg
Tarasenko/Gourde
Tarasenko/Wennberg

Duclair and others would be fallbacks at cheaper costs.

Drury would need balls the size of grapefruits to trade Othmann for Buch after the return he got a few years ago.

I wonder if Verbeek was looking at Edstrom. The team has too many wingers and Edstrom isn’t super young. I’m not saying I’d like to trade him but if the choice was Berard or Edstrom I might lean towards Edstrom.

Finally an elite #1D in Toronto

The last time Zib was worth anything at EV was when he had Buchnevich on his wing.

I guess I'll watch tonight's Kraken game. I'm elite at liberos. Shatty, E. Staal, Yands, Kane, etc. Elite.

All of the summer speculation (e.g. Kakko, Zegras, Hanifin, Trouba) depends on how the playoffs go. I can see a lot of hypotheticals. Tell me how far the Rangers get this spring and how the incumbents play and I’ll tell you who stays, goes and enters.

Ripped from the pages of the HF Boards.

Its just too bad. The guy has proven he can still score at essentially what has been an elite clip. Our focus could have been reserved for only the 3C. Or even better the assets couldve been used on say a Hanifin and a 3C. But the top 6 forward spot and 3C outweigh bringing in a Hanifin or Chychrun imo.
I’m glad for Kane that he has rebounded, however “elite clip”? He’s about PPG, we consider that “elite” now? There are about 35 players at about PPG. Hell Trocheck is almost PPG. Vinnie is an excellent all around player, but not close to elite.
I think the thing with Kane is that he just didn’t seem to fit last year. I think he was very good considering his hip, but he just didn’t work well where we needed him to. It would have been a big gamble, worked out for Detroit though…

Feelin' good on a Wednesday
I have a weird feeling about this deadline
I do too & I think it's due to the tenuous nature of this team.

Yeah we're winning games & high (currently 1st) in the standings but it seems a little house of cards-esque with Mika & Trouba just being awful, not to mention the shots allowed stat.

Also, we have some real prospect capital on wing & there's a good chance Drury wants to "GO FOR IT" before some of our contracts come up in the next 2 years.

He also wants to GO while Bread is playing great AND he has cap room with LTIR

Almost anything can happen before next Fri

Scares the f*** outta me

Panarin has been on the ice for 61 gf and 49 ga at even strength and is mvp worthy. Zibinny has been on for 49 gf and 33 ga and is awful. Years from now people will have revisionist history but you must never forget.

If theres a year to go for it though, its this year. The league is totally wide open and no dominant team. Best team is probably florida? Theyre hard nosed, big and physical. So the way you beat them is by getting bigger and more physical. Which maybe thats why were giving rempe and edstrom the trial run?
