Kraken are 7 points out of a wildcard spot with 3 teams ahead of them, including Calgary who are sellers.

They are 5-4-1 in their last 10 and they haven't been able to string together more than 2 wins in a row since their 9 game win streak straddling the new year. They can be streaky.

They do have a game or two in hand, but they would need to get hot again to have a shot.

PIT tonight, EDM, CAL & WPG (b to b), WPG again before the deadline. Thats tough. After that they close out the year with 12 games against teams NOT currently in the playoffs - I'm sure they see that.

Im curious to see how they fare the next 5 games before the deadline and what Francis will do

Seattle loves Eberle and wants to sign him. I dont think you are prying him away without a 1st or NHL ready prospect. Im not optimistic Drury pays the price but I personally would.

This is it. The silver lining is he is a guy with a history of getting raging hot over 1-2 month stretches. I thought a more confident Kakko gave them a lot more space on that line last night. I think about how another scoring threat would look over there. Eberle or Guentzel? High cost but that's exactly what we need. I think 3C and 6/7D can be addressed on the cheap end but getting a true top line player to put with Mika and Kreider would change a lot 5v5. Wheeler and Vesey and Kakko are good soldiers but they are not top line guys on a Cup winner. If locker room chemistry is a real consideration (it's weirdly been mentioned a lot by the media) I prefer Buch to Vatrano. Drury has the assets to get whatever he wants done, without giving anyone from the roster or Perrault/Othmann.
that's the problem. He's getting paid and relied on to be that guy. I really don't get his offensive game at the moment. lost in the O-Zone. Rarely in position to extend a play or be a threat. Does those long looping perimeter circles... Typically chasing the play. Drive-by/reaching king. Over passes on the rush. Refuses to shoot. Plays are dying on his stick at the moment.

He is attached to Kreider. BFFs. I don't see another RW getting more out of him as he's currently playing. Maybe I'm wrong. If the line starts playing better it's because Zibs is playing better.

You need at a bare minimum, 2 lines producing consistently at 5v5. We haven't had that all season, as of yet.

I like Cuylle and Kakko together.... maybe get them a Center that can carry the puck.
Yup, Brodz has done alright but he's not the answer to our top 9, especially if Zibs continues to struggle or we have a injury

I'm not sure whats wrong with Zibs shot, is he having a arm or shoulder issue, he usually has it humming by now.

I don’t think anyone is “good” with Brodzinski as the 3C but the question is as much about price as it is the state of the roster on paper.
I am sure there are a number of 3C types that they are looking at that could fit. I would be shocked if they don't upgrade that position. Brodzinski and Goodrow is not an appealing duo.

I've said it and got ridiculed. His one timer is over rated. His wrist shot is his bread and butter

Which is why i was thinking of putting him in the bumper, panarin on left wall and give us two shooting options, maybe a more straight shot to the net might help him? I dunno. It would likely require putting Lafreniere on the right wall for a better passing option than Trochek.

Please do not trade Kakko.

Shesty will end up taking a friendly deal but our success will hinge on him and set his value.

Would love for an Eberle or Gourde if Othmann and Perrault are off the table. Pretty much only deal I can think of I'd want to trade a first and dip into the reserves.

Maybe Hanifin but I don't see them utilizing any new LD in the proper way (moving Lindgren off Fox's pair).

Just some random thoughts. I trust Drury to this point though. What if we get a wildcard move like Buch and then a cheap 3C.

Tro is so redundant on PP1

go look at his great 2019 highlights... it's predominantly attacking the slot and using quick release wrist/snap shots. He was in the bumper on thre PP that season too.

I know what he's capable of. That's why perimeter- over passing, Mika is frustrating

Would be really nice in the slot
WDYM... Hanging out in between the blueline and the top of the faceoff circle, fully cocked, is a great game plan

Vince calling it a seller's market this deadline, I really dont see that. No one has anything to trade. Flames didnt even get a first for a D-man everyone wanted, and I'm fairly confident they only got a 1st for Lindholm because the Canucks jumped the market and needed to offload Kuzmenko. Jets just made a bad trade for Monahan.
It’s always a sellers market.
Cgy will be moving kuzmenko and hanafin.

Mika’s wrist shot has almost no deception.
Mika doesn’t get it off that often and he rarely even tries.

I agree theyve been tough to watch this year but we also have the best record in the league despite inconsistency with Igor and the powerplay. Both Mika and Kreider have come up in big spots plenty before and I bet they will again once the playoffs start. Last year was a mess with everyone deferring to Kane and Gallant's lack of adjustments. Mika needs to shoot more, once he gets that we will stop complaining. His all around game has been good.

btw i dont want to trade othmann at all....however if the deal truly is othman, goodrow, and a pick for zegras you guys would be out of your minds to not pull the trigger on that.

othmann and zegras are a year apart and zegras has already put up two 60 point seasons.....othmann will be a good player but give me a break people

He is currently a poor mans Gallants Panarin.

We need him to be 2019 Zibs or 2024 poor mans Panarin.

No way. Zegras is overrated and abysmal defensively. All style no substance. It would only be a matter of time before he became one of this boards main whipping boys. No to trading Othmann or Kakko for Zegras.
