Igor is the contract I wait on. Kk and Schneider come first. We survived with Igor being mid.

I would hazard a guess the delay might be coming from Igor's side. I'm guessing they are banking on a post season performance bump for more leverage.

... They should have waited another few days.
Including Tanev Calgary has three pretty significant assets to trade before the deadline. The remaining two are potentially bigger. I'm sure they concluded that taking this deal at this time (and move on to other assets on deck) was better than wait for potential alternative to (maybe but not guaranteed) come later and then miss out on this or other trades in the process.

We'll have to find a different way to win. This team is good at finding a way.

#1 on my wishlist. He is an impact player still and has had some great playoff moments.

Since most of the game is played at even strength, where do we rank in tjat regards?
It's actually special teams that are often the difference maker in playoffs. That 8th ranking is also with Bonino centering 3rd line for the most of the season and Goodrow with all of two goals for the season.

Vince calling it a seller's market this deadline, I really dont see that. No one has anything to trade. Flames didnt even get a first for a D-man everyone wanted, and I'm fairly confident they only got a 1st for Lindholm because the Canucks jumped the market and needed to offload Kuzmenko. Jets just made a bad trade for Monahan.

What does that have to do with Jones though? Does having Fox mean the team can’t have anyone else that can make a 5 foot pass?
It means that in playoff time things get rougher and more traffic in front of the net, things get let go more and he struggles with the physical part of the game because he is small, he just can't move anyone and having 2 or 3 of those types on the team makes you a problem for a team like Florida. Size has nothing to do with being able to pass, Chara, Pronger, etc were great passers in their prime.

Says who? Jones was fine in the limited role this season. At the same time Gustafsson doesn't have a contract for next year. Same's for Lindgren (RFA with one more year who has underperformed for his role). That's potentially TWO open spots on LW with no shoe-in options including from Hartford.
Jones could have an everyday role on another team, no player would pass that up

I'm nervous about this deadline, i want additions but i don't wanna sabotage the team.

If Zibs doesn’t improve, it doesn’t matter what moves are made.

The only way around that is if other players go nuclear to make up for it.
It's another reason i believe we are looking for another center. If Zibs can't get it together he takes on a shut down role and Trochek and the other guy becomes our scoring centers.

just do a 2nd, a 3rd and a mid level prospect for Eberle and call it a deadline. Seattle has gotta be selling, they're 7 points out of a playoff spot.

You need at a bare minimum, 2 lines producing consistently at 5v5. We haven't had that all season, as of yet.

I like Cuylle and Kakko together.... maybe get them a Center that can carry the puck.

This is it. The silver lining is he is a guy with a history of getting raging hot over 1-2 month stretches. I thought a more confident Kakko gave them a lot more space on that line last night. I think about how another scoring threat would look over there. Eberle or Guentzel? High cost but that's exactly what we need. I think 3C and 6/7D can be addressed on the cheap end but getting a true top line player to put with Mika and Kreider would change a lot 5v5. Wheeler and Vesey and Kakko are good soldiers but they are not top line guys on a Cup winner. If locker room chemistry is a real consideration (it's weirdly been mentioned a lot by the media) I prefer Buch to Vatrano. Drury has the assets to get whatever he wants done, without giving anyone from the roster or Perrault/Othmann.

Kraken are 7 points out of a wildcard spot with 3 teams ahead of them, including Calgary who are sellers.

They are 5-4-1 in their last 10 and they haven't been able to string together more than 2 wins in a row since their 9 game win streak straddling the new year. They can be streaky.

They do have a game or two in hand, but they would need to get hot again to have a shot.

PIT tonight, EDM, CAL & WPG (b to b), WPG again before the deadline. Thats tough. After that they close out the year with 12 games against teams NOT currently in the playoffs - I'm sure they see that.

Im curious to see how they fare the next 5 games before the deadline and what Francis will do

And you are good with Brodzinski as the 3C? I'm not.

Relying on the PP to win games is always something that makes me nervous. If a team makes it a directive to play disciplined against us that’s bad news.
The Rangers have won 11 of 12 with the PP being mostly garbage for the last month and they have found a way to win.

I don’t think anyone is “good” with Brodzinski as the 3C but the question is as much about price as it is the state of the roster on paper.
