I get the feeling Kakko is a gonner...why else would Anaheim send their GM to our nhl game on a night where Kakko is now on the Zib line. I hate it but it feels that way.

Why are people so quick to throw Jones into trades? We need to improve our defensive depth. We aren't going to do that by trading 1 dman for another.

Jones could absolutely be traded this summer, but right now, we should be looking to add a dman to push Jones down to 8th on the depth chart. We have no one in Hartford that we can trust to take a regular shift in the playoffs.

Because he's not likely to stay another year.

The positive is that it's a lot of home games, including April. One small trip west to Colorado and Arizona. April has one "road" game since the other is in UBS. Their first two games of the postseason will be at home too, whether that is April 22 or 23. Could be looking at almost 4 weeks where the team is on a plane one time. There will be plenty of time for rest down the stretch.

That’s the hope I think, or even can Fowler if he was ever made available would be acceptable. If it’s for Vatrano or Henrique that would be disappointing.

You're all missing the point. Adding a slightly better 7th dman to replace our current 7th dman does nothing to address our defensive depth.

Our defensemen in Hartford have played a combined 46 games in the NHL. 40 of those are from Mackey, who is currently injured. I can't see Drury standing pat with just 7 NHL quality dmen. If we trade Jones for a dman, then we have to bring in another dman to replace Jones.

It's really, really hilarious that the "need more grit, leadership and intangibles" crowd is finally starting to come around to the realization that grit problems can be solved with players like Rempe and Edstrom whereas the "can't score enough goals," problem is way harder and should have been more heavily addressed when we had the chance.

You learned that in the last two weeks, some of us knew it 3 seasons ago that this would be a problem.

I remember I kept being told that "you just want a utopia fantasy team that's too loaded," instead of the reality which is that many of these skill players will bomb out or bust and that we needed a bunch more for insulation.

I wouldn't pat yourself on the back. They are first in the league in points. You can't do that without skill.

I like Jones and don't want to see him moved and make the D depth even thinner. He is small but can do some good things like move the puck and play on the PP if needed.

Absolutely, let's get a bigger defenseman. I'm not saying we shouldn't. I'm saying we need 8 NHL quality dmen heading into the playoffs and right now we only have 7. If you trade Jones to get that bigger defenseman, then we still only have 7 NHL defensemen.

I agree I would only trade Jones for a guy like Hanifin

Love KK and don't want him going for pure rentals, but he does not strike me as the kind of guy whose absence is going to the dent the team's chemistry if he leaves mid-year. Has always sort of seemed on the outside.

Protected, younger probably already better then Vatrano as is. I don't think Drury makes this move but if he does...he needs to be fired.

Have you checked the team record with Kakko vs. without? It’s pretty striking.
