The Rangers need to get bigger forwards who get to the paint. This series has exposed that flaw. These one dimensional soft forwards are not the answer.

Some more bulk on D would be nice. Zadorov was moved early in the process. Someone like that would have been a major upgrade over Gustafsson who sucks. He has been exposed.
Gus cost nothing and we had no space. Who was going to fill that slot instead. Unless you mean next year, than yes, I agree with you

address the worst of our problems first. That one is clear… one number - 8
I don't think there's any situation where trouba is off this team next year. Whether we want it or not

Then this team isn’t serious about winning anything. Look at what Vegas did to their players. He’s dead weight.

I don’t see how you feasibly shed Trouba from the roster. He’s dogshit with a dogshit contract and the buyout just isn’t worth it at 4M 4M 2M 2M.

trouba is a liability. he showed it the entire playoffs. too many penalties. too many blown coverages.

We all know Trouba sucks but the lack of engagement from Mika and Kreider is nothing other than embarassing

Trouba will have value this offseason. His actual dollars owed are less than his cap. 2 years left for a veteran physical d-man. He’s also a consummate leader. I’m looking squarely at Nashville who is retooling and still competing. That’s a smaller market team who wants to appear like they’re competing while rebuilding to keep the fan base engaged. A veteran like Trouba who makes less than his cap hit and provides what he does would be a real fit there. Especially after losing McDonagh. Take the same package that they got for McDonagh and add Lauzon for money equalization and the deal is done

Trade Lindgren the second exit interviews are done.

He blows. A putrid season capped off by an even worse playoff.
That one guy that loves Lindgren will be here in a few to tell you he was trying his hardest out there.

it’s a really tough spot knowing you need to rework half the defense while also knowing doing it in one offseason isn’t possible.

What’s wild is that they could replace Trouba and Lindgren with average players, on $2m contracts each and improve greatly

Pretty much.

The two of them literally only provide intangibles at this point and this series pretty much put the kibosh on that. Non-factors at best, f***ing huge negatives at worst.

Get rid of immediately:

Trouba (He really tries hard, but he's washed.)
Kakko (LMFAO what an epic bust. Cannot think of a player I currently dislike more on the roster than this uncaring loser. Send him to San Jose or elsewhere. Kakko is emblematic of everything wrong with this team. He doesn't care, he floats around, he's braindead, and his skating is hot garbage.)

I am fine getting rid of:

Miller (So inconsistent.)
Lindgren (Will be washed in 2-3 years)
Panarin (Giant f***ing p***y)
Zib (Hoping he rebounds, but it looks like he lost all of his brain folds)
Goodrow (Literally a salary issue; he'd be fine if he made $2.5M-$3M)

UFAs to re-sign:

LMFAO NONE (though I'd take Wheeler back on an identical contract - but can't see him staying)

I don’t doubt that he is trying his hardest.

His hardest is awful.

I don’t think reworking the defense is that hard tbh. The FO just had to be willing to do it. f*** these “defense first” oafs who aren’t good at anything. Get a true 2 way defender another guy who is good at defense and doesn’t nuke offense and let’s get it.

Trouba, Mika, Bread, Kreids are going nowhere.

Gotta eat that reality people.

Kakko, Goodrow, Lindgren ( maybe), Gus, Wennberg, Jack are the ones that are moved/ not signed.

It’s really not THAT hard.

Trouba to Nashville for Landon + picks
Lindgren to Utah for picks
Sign Roy and Dillon
Play Jones

Miller-Fox
Dillon-Roy
Jones-Schneider
Lauzon

Then keep the picks recouped and scour the trade wire for the next 12 months looking for the right long term defensive piece.

Kakko is irrelevant at this point. 3rd line mess but I want him gone so I don't have to look at his stupid face on the bench anymore. So done w him. That 2019 draft was a mess and it's funny that prior to winning the lottery and landing kakko nyr was targeting one of the only really successful picks in Matt boldy.

We should be shopping literally every player over 26 this offseason. Not actively, but at least gauge the interest. Especially for playoff bums like Panarin.

Lindgren is gone. He is the one that needs to go. Trouba can be put on the 3rd pair and have more limited time. We need a better LD to pair with Fox. I don't know who it should be, but there are options.

I'd trade Lindgren, Kakko and Chytil. Let Ros and Wennberg walk.

More Trochecks, less panarins.

My order of importance:
1) Trouba needs to be gone. Not because I dislike him, the team needs that cap space to plug other holes
2) Kakko needs to go. It’s beyond time.
3) Lindgren should be traded. He’s all heart but he can’t move the puck or create any offense. Some team will pay for his leadership. Let them.
4) Goodrow should be shopped. Again, it’s a cap space issue. A 4th line player shouldn’t be making what he is making.
