The Brady Tkachuk trade chatter is intriguing. Renaud Lavoie repeating the same stuff Whit did about Tkachuk being unhappy and Stutzle unpopular. You can probably get anyone from Ottawa at this point. Their new owner may want to start from scratch. Sucks for the fans but they can blame Melnyk. Drury should trade for Pinto, thats a needle mover now and later

Ottawa trades Tkachuk + for EP.

EP refuses to sign in Ottawa.

I can see it happening lol.

If the charts say Miller has been good this year, the charts are worthless.
The problem with the charts outside the franchise players and the worst players in the league is the variance. Player X can look abysmal one year then gets traded to the Rangers and paired with Fox and immediately looks great according to the charts.

Speaking of charts, I really wish the Rangers would consider Hanifin. Our rush defense is obviously atrocious and according to the chart, Hanifin is good at denials:

If the charts say Miller has been good this year, the charts are worthless.
Charts don't have recency bias. They don't see a player who has a tough 5 game stretch, then plays well for 20 games, then has another tough game and say "see, player x sucks because I'm remembering shit that happened two months ago and ignoring the play the last two months".

If the charts say Miller has been good this year, I tend to believe it. While they are flawed, they are less flawed than the perception of the average human.

I think Tkachuk is destined for the Blues. Theyve got a ton of picks and Buchnevich to trade to make the money work. I'd keep an eye on that.
I can see that.

We convinced Ottawa to a fleecing on a deal with Zibanejad one time. Maybe we can do it again. Zibanejad + 7th for Tkachuk and a 2nd.

I kid.

Kind of. We might have to add the 2nd this time. :P

I’d try really hard to sub out Perreault for our 1st
Would never happen and this is where fans get greedy. If Vancouver presents you that deal you get the ink dry as fast as possible before their GM comes down from their obvious 4 day bender resulting in a blackout. You don't negotiate. You agree with a straight face and then dance until the end of time.

See the deal where we traded Buchnevich to the Blues. They didn't negotiate. They said yes while quietly thinking (is Drury high AF right now?).

I'm not saying he's been completely terrible but he's not been great. Constantly gets caught up ice, out of position, bad outlet passes, and he's so goddam soft. He doesn't need to go full Rempe, but my god forwards have no fear of him. He's taken a step back this year. People want to blame Trouba, cool, he's been pretty awful too but Miller has probably been a bigger disappointment. I was hoping for more from him this year and his fun chart isn't making me feel any better about his play.

Yeah, especially if the human is of the opinion that Trouba and/or Lindgren have been good because then there is just a fundamental misunderstanding of what is actually good defense.

Not every player needs to be feared, that is horribly flawed logic.

Even if he has taken a step back, he has gone from a borderline top pairing defenseman to a solid top-4 defenseman. Regressions do happen sometime.

Drury swooping in and stealing Hanifin from Tampa who dont have the assets to trade for him would be glorious. He is worth a 1st and Jones/Robertson.

Trouba and Lindgren have been dogshit wrapped in catshit wrapped in pigshit. I say this having always been a huge fan of Lindgren and Trouba having really grown on me.

How anyone can say with a straight face they have been good this year is... almost unbelievable.

It's not. Make a guy think twice when you're out on the ice. Even a slight pause or hesitation can flip a possession the other way.

Really? Even when that isn't his game? Do you want Lindgren leading rushes up ice? Do you want Goodrow doing fancy shit with the puck?

f*** no you don't. Therefore you don't want Miller doing something that isn't his game either.

fun fact!

Miller has 30 more hits this year than Mr. grit Ryan Lindgren.

To be fair Lindgren could have 30 more hits easily in the time he spent in the Rangers locker room getting repaired this year lol

Pacioretty with 5 points in his last 6. If there is confidence in his Achilles holding up, he is probably the best combo of upside and low cost for a top 6 winger. I dont care if he is listed as a LW, Im sure he'd be fine on the right.

Why has this shifted to Lindgren? Who's defending him? Do you really think Miller has had a good year? And yes, I'd like to see a bit more snarl /bite /jam or any other word that's gonna cause someone to call me a boomer here.

Hanifin <---> Trouba
- maybe Hanifin can make Trouba actually look good?

Gus/Lindy <---> Fox
- I'd go with Gus but I'm sure management and the locker room would prefer Lindgren

Miller <---> Schneider
- has looked like a good pairing

This summer Drury can decide who to keep out of Hanifin, Lindgren, Trouba, and Gus.

Because hes an actual problem with the defense that you and your ilk seem to want to ignore bc he's gritty and stuff.

But you didn't answer his question. Do you want Panarin dropping the gloves?

And if you want to add more snarl thats fine, but that probably has to be done at the forward position and not the D.

Florida is arguably the top team in the league and guess what? Rangers have more snarl on their D than they do! They got rid of Gudas who is all snarl and they've... gotten better? It's almost like other things are more important when you're trying to be good!

It is called an example.

Definition: a thing characteristic of its kind or illustrating a general rule.

We need a lot of things. We need Lindgren to be better. We need Trouba to be better. We need Zibanejad to be any amount better than he has been. We need Kakko to step it up.

Miller doesn't even crack the top 20 in terms of issues with this team.

There would be no need for Hanifin if Miller took the next step this season but it hasnt happened. Hanifin is an all situations guy who has size and is actually good. The D market is interesting to me. No one has much to trade, and the most motivated teams to get Hanifin seem like Tampa (they have no assets) and the Devils (closer to sellers at this point). I think there is a window of opportunity for Drury.
