The Hamburger Train.
Plus NYC has gone to hell the last few years. I’m there 3 times a week….
Homeless are rampant, subway crime, etc etc etc

This is really more of a right-wing talking point and isn't quite represented in the data. NYC doesn't make the top 30 list of cities with the "Most violent crime per capita." Shit like Billings, Montana makes the list regularly. It's hilarious.

"Maybe he'll want to go back home to Detroit." Top 3 worst by most metrics.

Well considering reporting statistics is voluntary, and ya can't rank in what ya don't report...

Fun fact, look it up.

Screw the talking points. This is personal experience. I don’t even vote.
I’ve been accosted by homeless for not giving them a dollar or a cigarette.
Homeless taking a dump on the stairs of nyp inside, when a bathroom is 150ft away.
Shit even on the national broadcast, there was a homeless guy walking in front of the camera with a shopping cart and they cut away real quick.
Don’t get me started on the used needles/open drug use…..
It started to turn when Deblasio was there, but in the last 2-3 years things have really gotten worse looking thru my eyes….
And it not just 1 thing, but the drop in quality of life for regular people, day to day/services/ etc plus many other variables have still been cause a ton of people/families leaving NYC.

Main point being, for regular working folks there has been a noticeable change from even 3-4 years ago…. In commuting/services/quality of life/and general safety….
I’m not a prophet, but if the status quo keeps up, I don’t see things getting better.

Obviously for the really rich like pro athletes they don’t have to deal with a lot of those issues.
For Trouba he might want to live in a wealthy suburb of Det over a multi-mill high rise in ny.
They may have kids, who knows. Priorities often change, and money and taxes will always be an issue

Believe me, I wish I didn’t have to spend as much time there as I do…
And I wouldn’t live there (unless I was Uber rich )for all the tea in china….

I need grass/space /etc but that’s just my preference.
Living in north NJ also has its own myriad of issues as well. That’s why our state is seeing an exodus as well.

I guess you weren't around in the late 70's or 1980 when I started working in the city. The Port Authority was a real gem in those days.

Just looked at the remaining schedule for us, only two teams out of playoff contention are OTT and MON. NYI x2, PHI and DET. This is not an easy schedule, these teams are fighting for their lives. DAL has a much easier schedule, as does CAR I think. It’ll be a tough road to the end.

I wonder why there was less crime outside in 2020. Hmmm...

Someone else said it too, but you obviously didn't walk around in the 70's, 80's, heck, even 90's.

It's "prophet," and status quo means neither better nor worse, so that's sort of tautological at face value. LOL

Now, Suburban Phoenix. Then, Long Island
Might be more complicated with the Rangers cap situation. Can't have someone on the roster that isn't ready to play at the level the Rangers are when they have zero cap space.
They had enough room.

There was less crime in past years because nowadays so many people are not charged.

70’s was def before my time…
Even 80’s-90’s ny always had that bad/seedy areas…drug use/hookers the usual.
I remember skipping school and making day trips with my friends getting into all sorts of shenanigans…
Time square was like the porn store hub….
Sunnyside queens was like the hooker heaven and so on etc.
Believe me, I’m no soy boy, I realize things always went on…..
I just never saw quality of life stuff like the drug use/needles n stuff so open as it is now….
When cops rode/walked by people would at least try to hide it lol….
there’s just a different standard I guess society/people who do/tolerate things in certain places of the city back then. But now’s it’s like it’s all over. Not just in certain areas….
I don’t know if I’m making any sense trying to explain it the way I am…
I’m sure you’ve seen quite a few things from those generations as well….

It's always funny reading people's takes on the safety of the city because the thing that I feel puts me at risk the most by far basically never gets brought up.

It's the behavior of people in cars, by the way.
The cars and traffic are horrendous…
The added bike lanes have seen to make drivers more aggressive

Bike lanes did nothing but make the city more dangerous for pedestrians.

And the increase in bad drivers is due to the lack of faith in the subway system. People don’t want to ride it, regardless of the talking points on either side. It’s just a fact.

Lol the increase in bad drivers is due to people being selfish. The subway system has nothing to do with how often people try to turn into me when I'm crossing the street and then gesture angrily at their green light like that means they don't need to yield to pedestrians with a walk sign. Or they just go through the red light. Or they drive the wrong way down a street.

lots of people used to driving in third world countries, or not driving at all (because they usually take the train).

Bad drivers are a fact of life in a city of 8 million. I drive to manhattan every day and I’ve seen way more people get hit by bikes than cars.

That appears to be an extremely easy schedule
