I understand their origin, not that it has any bearing on its usage today…they’re primitive and have been replaced with better models such as expected goals.
That is not how analytics work, especially in a fluid environment like hockey. There are a myriad of useful ideas and formulas out there, all of which are important in context.

For example, a player with a good corsi/corsirel and a negative xg% might be deployed in more of a shell strategy, and not with other useful offensive players generating hdc. In this case, a low event keep away strategy that minimizes everyone’s scoring chances is exactly what you want. Xg might tell you the team in question is getting “caved” but if they are giving up a small amount of SA/60 they would be doing their jobs well.

Let’s try Jonathon Quick on the wing too. He can play there when he’s not in the net.

Zibanejad is the number one center on this team, a position which he’s paid to play and has played his entire adult life. Switching him to right wing is a complete fantasy and that IS a statement of fact.

No way. Center.

Quick is the facilitator, LW brodzinski-RW zibby….

It’s obvious I will be proven right because it’s a situation that will never happen…..
Open your mind.

quick to W is facetious bs on yr part w/o substantiation

You can try to control the narrative all you want, and when you're right you're right and when you're wrong you're wrong.

You are factually wrong about it being IMPOSSIBLE for Zib to do a less demanding position.
We should not experiment just for the sake of experimentation.
But we should not be close minded about trying things to see if we can get some improvement.

This is the kind of analysis that pisses me off because checking line Larry is intentionally ignoring a bunch of shit.

Under those TOI parameters, they're 18th out of 20 in xG%.

xGA, they're 13th/20

xGF? They're 20th out of 20. Very bottom of the barrel.

They're actually our performing their expected goal output as a pair (2.15 per 60 vs 2.05 expected per 60) and HEAVILY outperforming their expected against (1.25 per 60 vs 2.55 expected per 60.)

I know this is going to be met with a bunch of "DURRRR END LINE RESULTS DURR" but the point is that if their actual performance doesn't improve, their end line results are going to start to spike up towards what the expected results are. All this does is tell me that they should thank their goalies for showing up behind them.

I don't know that I'd consider having a pair with Fox on it as the worst pair of all pairs at generating offense with over 700 minutes 5v5 is a good thing either.

It's been 3 games, but they HAVE been better since Trouba went out. I don't know what the correlation is but it's been a thing.
So Larry is ignoring important info for context but you’re not doing the same now? The Rangers are among the tops of the league for defense scoring and Fox is back to PPG player. So what’s missing? How about the facts that the team has been playing with holes in the lineup at forward for the whole season making all but Trocheck lines black holes on offense at ES. You’re disqualifying GA because of goalie(s) factor - then how about doing the same for GF due to Zibanejad, his missing RW and Bonino / Brodzinski at 3C for all but 10 games?

What does it have to do with anything? There’s been captains playing bottom-6 forwards even 4th line, as well as 3rd pair D. If Laviolette asks it to make the whole team better as a captain Trouba should be embracing this role.
Who has captained a contending team from the bottom pair? Maybe an old veteran on a really young/bad team. Putting him on the third pair is a huge demotion considering his current role.

It’s not IMPOSSIBLE for Quick to play wing either, smart guy. Just a tiny bit less likely.

Best case…Best Case if he has a great playoffs is the Chytil contract. Not getting 6 years from Drury unless he’s making a buck two eighty.
I'd still take him for 4 years and enjoy what I think will be 2 pretty below market value at the end.

How crazy would it be to go to San Jose and try and get Will Smith? Projecting forward, Rangers have the ammo for a big move. Soon too. How crazy would it be to get Gabes center to play with him coming into the pros also? I feel like it would be doable albeit a big move.

What could Minnesota offer for Miller? He just makes too many mistakes for a top 4D. Insanely athletically gifted but his hockey IQ is God awful and his decision making is worse.

Maybe playing at home does wonders for his mental health.

I'd trade Miller for Hartman at this point

Has the Rangers send down Brodzinski yet? I rather have 11 forwards and 7 d playing. He is not an NHL player but somehow Rangers management love this scrub

He's not even a PP QB. He's a guy who plays in the right circles taking one timers. That's why in his career he has 25 PPG to 32 PPA which is an extraordinarily high ratio for a defenseman. By extraordinarily high I mean it is literally the highest PPG : PPP ratio of any active dman in the league since he debuted (min 10 ppgs)
He ran it with the yotes….
I think that’s when he had his best statistical season.
That and the shortened season, but I could be wrong.

They're a bad partner.

Miller, Kakko, Othmann for Chychrun and Batherson?

Seems like a bit of an overpayment on Drury’s part?
Batherson has 3 more years at 5M/per and is 25. He now has 3 years in a row each better than Kakkos best season.

Kakko has 12 points this year.

It's pretty close. It might even be light.

Don’t mind loosing Miller and Othmann but for some non-logical reason I still believe there is a chance Kakko will emerge as big game player.

But I was told Lindgren is garbage and we need to trade him ASAP?
The 7 or 8 mouth breathers here that exist to TELL you how to watch and enjoy the game are best when personally poofed from my eyeballs.

The ones who pick a player, and blame him for everything, (Even when the guy isn't playing lol) is grating my nutz now.

More weed whacking needed when I have a minute.

Personally doing my best not to post my disappointment in KK, Goodrow, and Brods for varying reasons.

I try to find ways to talk to my buds or post something here positive about them, but they make it easy for me not to.

I'd rather play Tampa or Detroit over the Isles if I had a pick em.
