I think Fox would be a fine captain. He is not reserved like Kreider, he has a podcast lol. He also understands the role as someone who grew up with the Rangers.

I also think for better or worse his preference for Lindgren speaks volumes for his standing in the organization.

The only guy now that stands out as a real fireball is MacKinnon.

That's because, like Messier, he's a bit of a f***in mental case.

And that's all fine and dandy, but like, he wasn't even the team's captain when they won the Cup (he probably will be if Landeskog is done).

But he wasn't. So like, maybe screaming at everyone isn't the most important thing.

The fact that Trouba walked in here and got it ahead of Kreider might mean he's the right guy because there was every outside indication he was the captain without the C. I've had captains that were the star and guys that were 3rd pair dman, some guys can work a locker room, some can't. I'm sure the guys in the room know who the real captains are.

Both Ck and Mika have been offered it before this year and didn’t want it, didn’t think they were good fits.

Some of the consternation might be the labels as you pointed out. They are shorthand for achieving a certain level of GSVA. The numbers are more important.



I don't think it was saying he's not an above average goalkeeper. The check or no check indicates whether you are average, above average, below average in comparison to the standard by the average cup winners of the past, not the entire league.

Currently Shesterkin's season performance is below the average performance of other cup winner's netminders. Hopefully that has turned a corner.

Actually his CURRENT play is ABOVE the average I’d say. A month ago, maybe not.

Well, that's not actually true. Believe it or not, it was actually Trouba. He is the most vocal in the locker room. His teammates love him. Kreider doesn't have the voice Trouba has.

I don't come here to be "educated" or preached to by anyone. I dont care if anyone likes the game the way i do. I enjoy the game the way my father showed me, and his father showed him. Starting around 1950.


I have allegiance to NO player. Only the team. And here's a shocker. I don't know more than ANY GM, ANY coach, or ANY scout. Maybe except Bobrov.

I enjoy interacting with those not looking for some HF Board Golden Globe. Those with a sense of humor that don't take themselves so seriously.
The ones that would hope the Rangers lose to prove their point have vanished from my feed long ago.
So have the ones looking to debate over whether the sun rises in the east.

I'm here originally since 2005 for rumors, some interesting speculation, and Ranger fan humor.

The reason to add, is that as flawed a team as we are. I can see us beating any East team as we are if we got hot at the right moment.

If that’s the case then why not? Why not take a legit shot from a strong starting point

Agreed, or at least no rentals.
If you can get someone for cheap-ish who can at least give an option for next season and it improves or changes the look of the roster then go ahead, but otherwise just roll with what we have

Because we say this every deadline and it’s always fools gold. Continuing to chase low odds leaves you disadvantaged in the longer term where we actually could be good enough.
