Not that I want to trade Andersson, but Bern has been ahead of his time on some of his suggestions haha

Gotta give the man credit
Broken clock, blind squirrel, etc.

It's like if a baseball player called his shot every at bat and then when he finally gets one he goes "see! told you! give me credit!"

The difference between "Lias Andersson cut from team" and "Lias Andersson makes the big club" is very thin. The availability of ice time in the top 9, the glut of capable centers and top 9 forwards is what decided his assignment. All out of his control. He could beat out Vesey for a spot 10 days out of 10 for a top 9 spot. He's still progressing toward being a good middle six forward. I don't think he needs to be defended or lambasted for being in this predicament.

If nothing else, being demoted to the wolfpack while Fil and Howden are with the big club is going to help him Naruto his way to being a better player.

I just have a feeling they did not tell him the real reason why he was cut was his skating and he will not focus on improving it because nobody seems to be pointing it out to him.

We are on the same page here. I’d rather have Skjei as a so called second fiddle to a more offensive partner than to be this offensive part of the pair. I just don’t see this much offense in him. Now this is both long term and in the context of the way the Rangers defense is currently constructed. For example, if one of Pionk or ADA played LD then I’d be ok to go back to the “lost” pair Skjei - Smith where Skjei’s role would allow to be more opportunistic on offense.
You think Skjei is more of a modern shutdown defensive defenseman?

That seems completely irrational. If the Rangers have an issue with his game, of course they'd tell him about it. It's in their interest that he becomes the best player possible. What earthly reason could they have for "not telling him the real reason" he was cut?

These are some quotes from Gorton

9/6

“The intent is to have all three at center to start,” Gorton said of Chytil, Andersson and Howden. “We want them to play their natural position and see how they look there. That’s how we want to evaluate them. As we move along, we’ll see, but we don’t have a plan to move any of the them to the wing. We think of them as centers.”

“It is a one-year deal, but like I’ve told Kevin, we’d like to have him long-term. He’s said that he wants to be here, so let’s have him come to camp in great shape, be a leader, have a big season, and let’s go from there. Nothing is set in stone.”

Someone needs to ask Gorton how this is going to work in the future.

The 49ers started two rookie corners in 1981. They won.

The Yankees played Torres and Andujar. A team which nearly made the World Series last season. If they were the Rangers, they would have traded o signed some veteran player with a huge contract. They have an excellent chance at reaching the World Series in the next month with Torres and Andujar. If Frazier didn't have serious concussion issues, he would played a big role on this team with the injuries suffered in the OF. The Yankees had to trade for McCutchen because they had so many issues there.

The Rangers tell us high they are on Andersson and then they tell us they don't have a top 9 role for Andersson at center. Why not? Because they didn't trade Hayes three months ago. What's his long term future with this team? The Rangers have Mika who is better. The Rangers have three young centers who will be better.

I'm usually with you, but 2 rookie centers is being stuck in the past but 3 rookie centers is doing his job right?

There's no market for hayes and zuccarello right now. Once they have a destination, they'll go. And then we'll have a young team struggling their way forward.

Can we stop with the football and baseball comparisons please?

The Rangers didn't trade Hayes, more than likely, because they didn't get an offer they liked enough so they're gambling that he replicates the last quarter of last season up until the trade deadline and get an offer they like.

Andersson is 19. It's not unusual for a 19 year old center to not be ready for top 9 duty in the NHL. In fact, I'd say it's an really unusual for a 19 year old to be ready for that role. No need to rush. Play the guy 15-20 minutes a night in the AHL until there's a slot open for the role he's supposed to play..

Yes a good point @Ola - and he will save a year on his contract, but I`m not the only one who is surprised by this move. The hockey guy from Vancouver Canucks fan on youtube is also experienced all news related to hockey and he spend a lot of time analyse all NHL teams and talents with stat sources. And since Lias was labeled as NHL ready by some pro. scouts in 2017 was also surprised that Lias was sent down after this pre season.

And I don`t like how this coach create lines - you need your top talents play with other skilled players, and you can`t demand young talents to carry their whole line with 4th liners on it as Lias did in his first game and scoring 2 goals. So something is questionable going behind the scene, and it goes directly back to the management and part of the scouting staff and the new coaching staff.

He's got nowhere to play with Zibs, Hayes, & Chytil in front of him. It's the right move.

So why keep him he is a 1st 7th pick in 2017 - Lias is not a 4th line kind of guy is Lias going to wait until Zib get hit by another concussion kind of injury is that the plan, because it`s likely going to happen with his injury history and I`m concerned about that. Why keep Hayes contract this season with a 1 year contract if they are rebuilding and the management said they are going to use both Chytil & Lias as centers?

It`s okey to be sent down due to development and he is far away to be NHL ready as a 19 years old I understand that, but how they create lines in this Franchise in consider they are "rebuilding" is questionable to say at least.

Scroll up and read why. Lias is 19. Let's not act like he's 23.

Yes I edited my sentence so I understand that - I just wish to see him with better line m8`s, but sure I would not used him in a 4th line role so I would send him down too, but I`m still surprised by the whole evaluation process in the training camp with who he play with this pre season and that is a honest opinion. My brief point the coaching staff see things differently, maybe they are correct doing so or wrong I don`t know right now what is good for Lias development.

They are not rebuilding. They are hedging, as usual.

The reason I understand to keep Hayes is based on our injury history and we were hit hard last year based on that - so maybe they knew that Lias was far away from NHL ready earlier this summer when they resigned Hayes. I still believe Lias can improve his skating, because he still looks slow out there, and today NHL 2018-19 season is going to be really fast pace and we have M Staal! :D

Ok we get it. The rangers should have traded Hayes already so that andersson had a spot on the 3rd league. Except for all his warts, Hayes took the tough mins last year, who’d take it if it were zbad/chytil/andersson/howden and would that be beneficial to anyone. Hayes either has a crappy season and your right, or he has an ok season and gets traded and gets us a 1st or A prospect, or he plays really well and prices himself out of NY but nets us a home run return, or finally, he becomes an all around player, uses his size and becomes a complete package and the rangers sign him. In retrospect the rangers did the right thing. They didn’t have anyone else capable of handling the top minutes and the whole season would be torched bc they’d be getting torched going zbad/chytil/andersson/howden. No one would develop properly. The puck and score would be out of reach every game all game. Let it go. Your real winning argument is that they should have started this a couple years ago. I’m on board wit that. Feb letter being the starting point, I like everything they’ve done, save having someone else like drury getting a zucc trade done at the deadline while gorton was hung up.

Howden required waivers, yes? He would have been claimed, 100% no doubt. Andersson was demoted for this as much as for Hayes/Spooner/Names/Zucc still being here.
