Camp will be interesting. Lots of competition on both forward and defense.

If you expect Skjei - Shatty // Staal - Pink // Smith - DeAngelo, you're left with Gilmour, Claesson, and Kampfer, and then I think Bigras could potentially make a case in camp.

One interesting thing about the goalie situation is that Georgiev and Mazanec are listed on the Wolfpack website. Is Tokarski expected to be the backup?

Tokarski signed a 2-way contract with extra money in the AHL, so I would say it's between Georgiev, Mazanec and Tokarski for the backup spot. The might prefer to have Georgiev playing 50-60 games in the AHL rathan than 20-25 games in the NHL.

Someone brought up Dwight King as a player comparable to Gettinger. Their stats are pretty similar. King is no longer an NHLer because he's of the mold of late 2000s/early 2010s grinders that were all physicality and can't keep up with the speed. It is encouraging his stats have improved every year. The thing about him is to have modest expectations. If he starts in the ECHL or is only putting up average or third line AHL numbers, it's important not to jump on him and label him bust because he might be contributing in other areas. This isn't like Gropp who if he's not scoring, isn't doing much else.

Kings won 2 Cups with King playing most of the playoff games, it wasn't that long ago.I don't see why King or Gettinger can't be effective 4th liners unless their skating is just awful. I hope Gettinger gets more respect than ECHL.

Oh.... You're one of those.

Hockey is supposed to be fun and entertaining and have many possible things that can happen, but lately it has become boring, bland, and predictable. Really miss some colorful characters like Fleury, Barnaby, Kasparaitis, Avery, Hollweg, etc.

But if Gettinger is anything like the Taylor Pyatt that we had, then forget about it. That was one of the most miserable players I ever seen.

Go watch wrestling then.

I personally find hockey to be the most exciting sport on the planet.

O’Gara is in this mix too.

Tough to disagree that the game is very sterilized and vanilla right now. It's still hockey, but the spice is gone.

Yeah, I've felt that way for a while. Every game feels the same whether you're playing the Devils or the Coyotes. While it's tough to debate the merits of things like fighting and violence disappearing due to concussion concerns, the games just feel devoid of passion. Even beyond fighting which I could do without minus the in the heat of the battle scrap; there's no after the whistle stuff, seemingly no hitting, etc. It's just very bland and vanilla as you put it. I don't need WWE or UFC on skates but a lot of the time I feel like I'm watching the same game over and over. It would always make me laugh when I see NBCSN push "rivalry night" when the two teams on that night are playing each other like they're out of conference opponents.

I think they may start Georgiev in the A and then if he's needed for stretch of games, they will bring him up.

The fast that they don't even have a competent 4th line in place is quite alarming to me..

Imagine looking at this roster and picking out the 4th line as your concern.

"Where are our placemats?"

If you're a GM in any league and you can't even assemble a competent 4th line, you've got major ******* problems and that pic basically sums it up.
2015 and counting...SMH

Since rosters haven't been announced how can you have any idea how "competent" their 4th line is?

UFA is a foregone conclusion Hao.
Who do we have to center the 4th line other than Holland and Nieves?

So, if one of Holland, Nieves, or Howden are centering Vesey & Fast we don't have a "competent" 4th line?

Disagree.

Holland and Nieves have no business in the NHL.
Howden is a big giant question mark.
Vesey, while I think that's where he probably belongs, he's still just meh.
Love Fast.

No, that doesn't even remotely do it for me..
