I don't think it says "Rangers" enough times on this shirt.

I am surprised Zadarov got traded already and the return was pretty meh. If rumors are true and he demanded a trade i wonder if the locker room is still having issues. One would assume you wait till the deadline to maximize the return, maybe a GM blinks and you get a 2nd.

Calgary is in a weird spot with Kadri and Hubs signing long term deals. Your hope is they play well so they will want to waive their NMCs and you can get something of value for them.. If they don't perform you are stuck with them for the duration of their contracts. Feel like if they had the option to retool they would rather go that route then full break it down build it back up rebuild.

Drury should grab the phone and offer Lindgren and Chytil and a pick for Lindholm and Hanifin 50% retained. Calgary gets 2 young pieces they control for the next few years Rangers get 2 UFAs that they can try to sign after they move Goodrow in the offseason. It would also give them almost 3 million to upgrade RW.

That’s an awful trade. 2 24 year olds under team control for 2 rentals. All to upgrade RW in the offseason? Overthinking it

McDonagh is probably about the only former ranger who has been brought up in here who I'd have any interest in bringing back.

Boyle mentioned a play Miller made in the Buffalo game. Miller made a soft play on one of the Buffalo goals. Miller needs to play more physical. Boyle isn't wrong. Boyle wants the Rangers to add another big D. He made those comments a few weeks ago. Brooks was discussing the story he wrote about Trouba being the villain and the Rangers have always been an offensive finesse team throughout most of their history. Brooks is not wrong.

I'll keep on asking you this because you never answer it.

Who is this big D replacing in the current lineup? Lindgren? Schneider? Those guys fit the bill (well at least Schneider does) of what you're looking for.

I'd love to upgrade Lindgren but that isn't happening in season.

You are upgrading 2 positions plus the option of a 3rd in RW. Lindholm is better than Chytil and Hanfin is better than Lindgren.

One or both could be resigned after moving Goody in the offseason.

Lindholm is 28 and Hanifin is 26 so its not like the Rangers are acquiring guys in their late 30a. Plenty of hockey in both those players.

Trade is a huge upgrade for the Rangers and makes them significantly better.

I like the way the team plays and at this point I don't think they should make any trades. They do seem to have a good next man up mentality.

Yes, a Barbashev type is tough to pass on like Vegas last year, but since those don't come around as often, I say ride it. I think Vesey can move up. I think he would do well for the 1st line.

The first argument is well you can't win with that right wing depth. That's not true. Howden played 2nd and 3rd line for Vegas and they won. You never know what works and you should never discount the ability of a team to become just that, a team.

We saw Fast be a "third liner" yet be a great piece that allowed, or more appropriately facilitated, a great top 6 line.

Championship teams are always more than the sum of their parts and allowing the guys that are in the room to make a difference breeds the trust and chemistry needed to win the only 16 than matter.

Why do we have 5 B2Bs this month with 4 of them including travel? Glad we’ve banked a ton of points. Might need to use the LTIR space to call up guys to rotate in and out to keep people fresh.

From Calgary perspective I believe the idea is to take the 2 meh picks and then weaponize the cap space at the deadline for more picks/prospects.

Cap space is going to be so valuable at the deadline because no one has any.

LOL another “big D”. Can’t argue with that after watching Conn Smythe winners Mikkola and Nemeth

Trocheck signing got killed from day 1. It's too long! Copp is better! Trocheck is the best faceoff man in hockey, plays PP1, has skill, PK. He does it all. Every single line he's on is solid. Pacing for close to 70 points. The fact that he is signed for $5.6M is crazy. A guy like that should be getting around $7M.
You left out grandma’s cooking.

Maybe. It would also allow them to have their 3 retention slots for Lindholm, Hanafin and Tanev. Still a very meh return

I get it. It’s certainly a trend with teams that win.

I just don’t see the fit unless you’re replacing Schneider (who fits that big D profile) or Lindgren (who plays a gritty game anyway.)

There’s no way the other 4 should come out.

Want to replace Jones with a 7th D who has some size? Fine. I think that it may be wise to just keep the D as it is and trust that Lindgren will get better.

I'd like to add a spare D in addition to Jones, but the cap is so tight that it may not be possible. We may have to just hope that we stay healthy.

It is 2023. We need to get away from this idea that the amount of 3 dimensional space a player occupies is an important consideration over actual hockey related things
