Berard has 21 games of pro experience. Probably has more to do with it than anything else. Good idea to allow him to continue to get top 6 minutes in Hartford than to be in and out of the lineup here.

Perhaps it becomes an option down the road but its not like hes ripping up the A. I have zero issue with him and Othmann remaining in the A. I get that they're sexier options but neither guy has really forced their way up, at least not yet.

i get it, but at the same time, there's a long term hole to fill. we have players with skillsets better suited to where it is in the lineup and actual upside / personality to their game. it's nice to have the human embodiment of paint drying to throw out there but my first look would be at the upside. besides, just like herpes, brod inevitably always comes back. i knew that wouldn't be the path they took, but i think it's the one they should have

With the expectation Kakko is back this season, this basically blows our cap situation to hell correct? As in we're going to be close to 0 in space around the deadline given the call ups and lack of accrual over the season?
You almost have to hope we can keep him out the entire regular season.

If there is a guy in the system who plays a similar style to Kakko right now it's actually Edstrom. He's strong on the boards, good 2-way, a bit more physical. Obviously the offensive upside and vision aren't the same but in terms of style I could see it.

In saying that, I think we see:

Panarin-Trochek-Lafreniere
Kreider-Zibanejad-Wheeler
Cuylle-Bonino-Brodzinski
Pitlick-Goodrow-Vesey

And when Chytil is back, I wouldn't mind seeing:

Panarin-Trochek-Lafreniere
Kreider-Zibanejad-Vesey
Cuylle-Chytil-Wheeler
Pitlick-Bonino-Goodrow

The thinking has to be that Chytil is close so sliding Brodzinski in for two games is better than bringing up Othmann and then having to sit him. Because I wouldn’t want Othmann on the 4th line
