I mean depending on what the number is, Kane may have been a good idea. Like I said though, if he signed with us he would be trash, for Detroit he will score a PPG.

Maybe Kessel? I don't want to upset the good things going in Hartford too much when there are options available, but sometimes it can't be helped.

I like the Edstrom callup. Anyone that has been watching/paying attention to Hartford knows he has been a big shutdown player for them and is always on the ice for protecting leads and PK.

An under-the-radar forward prospect to keep in mind is Edström, who's played well enough to earn a top-six opportunity.

The 2019 sixth-round pick stands at a hulking 6-foot-8, 225 pounds and has some sneaky skill to go with that big frame. He's tied for second on the team with five goals, moves well for his size and has shown he's capable of thundering hits. One scout lobbied for him to crack our annual top-10 organizational prospect rankings and believes he has a real chance to eventually crack the Rangers' fourth line.

In fairness, I think he has 2-3 empty net goals

In saying that, it means the team relies on him in defensive situations and he is excelling. His reach and strength are tools that he needs to use to his advantage at the NHL level

I get that you want the extra forward but does it really help Edstrom (and I'm guessing he'll be the one sitting) to just practice with zero game time instead of playing?

Or at they going to do that thing where hes being shuttled between Hartford and NY?

Based on reports and his experience playing in the SEL, I think the management team and coaching staff are intrigued to see where he is at. If he comes in to practice and shows well, perhaps he is a longer term solution as a 4th liner this year, allowing Vesey to move up.

Also a possibility but I would assume that Brodz is going to get first crack and a decent leash.

Interesting call ups. Why call up two forwards unless someone else is banged up?

I'd give Edstrom a shot with Cuylle and Bonino if Chytil can't go. That's a big, heavy line. Wouldn't touch Vesey-Goodrow-Pitlick.

Figure Chytil is out at least 1 to 2 more weeks. Kakko out at least a month. He'll take Fox's LTIR spot. Every cap dollar matters.

brod again? guy is like the hockey equivalent of herpes

i get he's playing well down there but like....we know exactly what he is and he's a clock killer at the nhl level. his offensive game doesn't translate, he's not a great forechecker, passable defensively, fast enough but not a burner, not overly physical. he's a low risk, no reward callup.

edstrom is at least a little interesting. wonder if this is related to chytil. maybe they want to get a look at him in a 3c role with the kakko ltir space and see if he can help create a shutdown line? if chytil isn't going to be returning anytime soon it's worth a look. could also be a showcase for someone? maybe drury has something in the works for a move up front and giving them a chance to scout against an nhl team?

could really use speed though and berard is playing really well. why not take a chance try try the guy who fits a 3rd line wing role perfectly who plays the exact game you'd want to have there who has a skillset that translates much better? even othmann would be fine, just lean berard to get some quickness in this lineup.

I'd do

Vesey-Brod-Cuylle
Goodrow-Bonino-Pitlick

But I expect Lavi will keep Bonino on line 3.

Either way, we're very much a 2 line team offensively until Chytil gets back.

We all knew going into the season that we had rode the good luck train with injuries too long. Our lack of depth is going to cause us some problems here.

Edit- also, I thought we signed Riley Nash for situations like this, but it would appear Drury prefers Brod. Not sure that tracks for a 4th line position IMO.

Berard has 21 games of pro experience. Probably has more to do with it than anything else. Good idea to allow him to continue to get top 6 minutes in Hartford than to be in and out of the lineup here.

Perhaps it becomes an option down the road but its not like hes ripping up the A. I have zero issue with him and Othmann remaining in the A. I get that they're sexier options but neither guy has really forced their way up, at least not yet.

I understand the teams appreciation and rewarding Brodz with the call up. He has obviously been a terrific player in Hartford. I would prefer to let the kids continue to develop in Hartford for a little while longer (Berard/Othmann even Edstrom) but what about Belzile? He wasn't horrible in the 30 or so games with Montreal last year.

Brodzinski gets top 6 minutes in Hartford, 1st and 2ed line. No wonder why he does nothing here on the Rangers always on the 4th line. I wont be shocked if Kreider Mika Brodzinski happens at some point.

But seriously the obsession with the AHL tweener is a mystery. Brodzinski is just an AHL player and should not be on any NHL team. He is not that good. I don’t get what the Rangers see in this guy.

Someone said Edstrom was called up too.

Maybe Bonino is banged up and will get a day off? He was hobbled from that one shot block

I'm hoping for a heavy practice but the team is depleted from this many games in a short window. Shooting drills would be amazing.
