If you want Patrick Kane without the pressure to give him a bunch of minutes and ruin Panarin, this guy would cost nothing.

Duclair definitely a cromulent choice, but again I think it depends on the player type that they WANT to replace. Are they trying to get a Kane alternative? Are they trying to get a defensive forward? Are they trying to get an energy guy? They could go in a lot of different directions. Kane was probably the least interesting (if not the worst) solution they could have went for, and if Kakko didn’t get injured it’s not something I would have considered

The answer to all is Fried Green Tomatos

are people worried that bringing Otter up now when he's just heating up is going to potentially stunt his growth and mess with his head?
He's a very mature player and I think he'll take the responsibility of needing to be a 3RW staple alongside with Cuylle very well. We knew going into the season that barring any injuries on the wing, he'd be one of the top candidates to finally get a regular-season look.

well, nevermind it's Brodz and Edstrom lol
Edstrom is interesting

This also indicates that the #NYR are planning to activate Adam Fox for tomorrow's game vs. DET. In order to make this work from a cap perspective, I believe they'll need to place Kakko on LTIR. We'll find out more soon, with today's practice scheduled for noon.

Evaluating play is fluid...Edstrom has been playing very well...sounds like a meritocracy

No point putting Kakko on LTIR at the moment even if they know he's going to miss a while. They can just put Chytil there retroactively which costs them nothing as he's already missed his 10 games.

I agree it's time to give Belzile a shot, though part of me wants to see what Edstrom can bring to the 4th line w/Vesey moved up to the 3rd line.
Yeah I think Vesey or Goodrow getting moved up and call up is for Line 4 if we are talking about Brod and Edstrom

I much prefer seeing Edstrom play over Brodzinski. Lets see what Edstrom can do.

I dont think either are a longterm solution.

I won’t be shocked if Goodrow or Vesey is back in the top 9 tomorrow and Edstrom hopefully gets the chance to make his NHL debut. We know what we have with Brodzinski, he is just there and does nothing .

I'm not touching that 4th line. Whoever comes up is slotting with Bonino and Cuylle. Hell, that line has not been used like 4th line either. Vesey-Goodrow-Pitlick is the 3rd line and Cuylle-Bonino-Brodz/Edstrom is the 4th line.

Also, didn't Brodzinski play a bunch with Cuylle in the A last season? Could be some chemistry there is they go that route. Some will remember the 2011-12 team having Johnny Malkin with Hagelin be part of their 3rd line that season.

Good for Edstrom. I dont expect him to stick all year (if he even gets in the lineup at all) but I think he is one of a few guys in Hartford who we can hope to develop into cheap effective bottom 6 players over the next couple years.

Huh where did I flip flop on this? I’ve always been Pro-Kane including last year lol

Ohhhh i don't have the patience to go back and go through this shit but you were anything but when it because clear that Kravtsov was going to be the sacrificial lamb to make it happen.

Whether or not you changed your tune afterwards I don't remember.

I wouldn’t either but seems most likely to me. All for keeping that together, but how many minutes do they want to give Brod / Edstrom?

An under-the-radar forward prospect to keep in mind is Edström, who's played well enough to earn a top-six opportunity.

The 2019 sixth-round pick stands at a hulking 6-foot-8, 225 pounds and has some sneaky skill to go with that big frame. He's tied for second on the team with five goals, moves well for his size and has shown he's capable of thundering hits. One scout lobbied for him to crack our annual top-10 organizational prospect rankings and believes he has a real chance to eventually crack the Rangers' fourth line.

I'm expecting Brodzinski in the lineup with the team taking a closer look at Edstrom. By placing someone on LTIR calling up Edstrom costs the team nothing and they can gauge his progression and work with him on the finer points. He is probably the call-up they want in the case a 4th line player goes down (Pitlick, Vesey, Goodrow, Bonino)
