I don’t understand the Brodzinski hate. He’s the perfect tweener to have in the system.

Hot take here, but I’d actually be interested to see what he could do on the wing with Zib.

He doesn’t score in the NHL because he almost always plays with trash in the NHL.

Don't think I want him doing anything in the top 6 but I'm not exactly understanding the hate either.

As you said hes a tweener. If you can't live with a tweener for 5-6 games then your team is probably not that good. We've played much worse for way longer than that. We have a regular in the lineup who isn't any better (and probably worse) getting paid 3.6 a year.

I hope Edstrom gets first crack and a decent leash since theres potential for him to fill a spot long term (and who knows, maybe the game just translates better to the NHL and he's actually really good at this level) but if Brodz gets some burn, it's totally fine.

Panarin Tro Laffy
Kreider Zibs Wheeler
Cuylle Brodz Edstrom
Vesey Goodrow Pitlick

this is under my assumption Bonino is banged up

He always plays with trash and not with skilled players is because the Rangers know he is an AHL player at best. I just wonder why they keep calling him up. Rather call up someone who is part of the future, not some AHL vet. If he was any good, Rangers would play him with skilled players whenever they would call him up.

Once again, I do not know what you're expecting. He's a 4th liner.

What do you expect any other call up to do?

He scores at the AHL level and gets top line minutes. Maybe he needs to get top line minutes to be effective. But seriously they should have called up a prospect. A few games is not going to hurt their developing.

At least they did not call up Jake Leschysnwhateverhisname

They called up Edstrom too.

Unless you're talking about Berard/Othmann in which case I disagree. Those guys should stay in the A getting their top 6 minutes.

Edstrom will hopefully play tomorrow. Othmann id want to see get called up when they are ready. Same with Berard. Edstrom is a few years old so I understand why he was called up. Trivingo would be another player id like to see called up. He has potential.

Trivigno has struggled in Hartford and has been a healthy scratch at times this season.

More to do with being in Knoblauch's doghouse for an unknown reason more than anything. I expect his stock to go up once he gets more opportunities.

So Kakko is not done for the season, which is nice.

Do we get to become cheaters because Kakko is good to go for R1G1 and we can use the extra LTIR space to add a couple pieces? Have to take advantage somewhere.

With the expectation Kakko is back this season, this basically blows our cap situation to hell correct? As in we're going to be close to 0 in space around the deadline given the call ups and lack of accrual over the season?

IMHO. He has been a bad NHL player with the Rangers because of his Modus Operandi.
He doesn’t work with his line mates. He either carries the puck over the opposing team’s blue line and shoots into the goalie, ending play or he receives the puck and skates it over the blue line and shoots the puck into the goalie, ending play.
No sustainable pressure down low. No setting up his line mates.
He’s a momentum killer.

I legit can’t tell who you’re talking about

Not entirely.
We won’t need ltir once fil is back, so we could go 2.2m over the cap once it’s just Kakko and we’ll have a little accrued for deadline space.

Sounds like Chytil a bit except Chytil gets the puck to go in once in awhile. Not a lot but enough to get some fans here excitrd thinking he is going to be a good NHL player.

You can't accrue cap space while you are on LTIR.

Brodzinski gets top 6 minutes in Hartford, 1st and 2ed line. No wonder why he does nothing here on the Rangers always on the 4th line. I wont be shocked if Kreider Mika Brodzinski happens at some point.

But seriously the obsession with the AHL tweener is a mystery. Brodzinski is just an AHL player and should not be on any NHL team. He is not that good. I don’t get what the Rangers see in this guy.

i mean he's fine as a filler but like...he adds nothing. for a long term injury you'd kinda want to see if you have an option that complements his linemates and adds value to the team....not the guy who will just exist and piles up games played doing nothing. we know what he is. he can't produce offense at the nhl level the way he does at the ahl level which renders it irrelevant. there are several young players with legitimate upside who have played well enough to justify a look. i don't see why you don't take a look at at least one of the optoins who has upside. if there's one thing we know for damn sure it's that brod will always be there if they don't perform.

Sometimes the more expedient (and affordable) solution is to promote from within.

Jones has improved since we force fed him games. Maybe Othmann heats up in the AHL and joins the Rangers later in the season.
