Sandy Alderson attitude right there.

Who do you think you're getting? Who do you think would out-play Puempel, DD and Grabner, Fast, who all have contracts? Adding bodies who can't compete will just distract from the evaluation of kids we may need to count on later this season or next season.

Berezgalov playing LHD in TCT... that would put him solidly out of the top 6 for NYR unless we move/sit Staal or shift Skjei to RHD

Eh, not necessarily

I would bet that once training camp starts, they'll start playing him on the right as well

Him playing both sides is a blessing. If he has a great training camp, and they break with Bereglazov/DeAngelo on the team, they can rotate on the right every couple games, but also allows them to sit/rest Staal for some games as well

Seriously, did Sandy Alderson sneak into the Rangers FO? Why aren't they bringing in any forwards??

Rangers have been content as hell for months. There is no reason at all to not bring in some guys on PTOs and here they are being picked away by other clubs

makes no sense at all. no sense.

I understand your sentiment, but who's getting picked up on PTO that we actually want?

I mean, again, I don't disagree with the sentiment, but I think the ships have sailed.

I would have been in on Stafford.

Instead, we let him go to our biggest rival when he has 300 career goals against us.

Because he goes back to Russia otherwise and Buchnevich could use a bud

If it's a tie he's in

I highly doubt the Rangers care about his out clause. This isn't a Zubov or a Gonchar. They're going to go with whoever plays the best. And with all due respect, a professional sports team isn't going to give a roster spot to a guy because a teammate needs a buddy.

Yeah I would have liked Stafford

At this point it looks like they are going into the season with what they got, and trade for someone later if needed

The logical conclusion, IMO, is that this team sees Lias as an NHL player right now. I don't see any other outlook that makes sense.

Fine, but if he's not -which is very possible because he's a damn child- we have a problem.

I was just in Vegas a week ago and met a bunch of people "in the Know". There is a huge interest for that hockey team there right now. That much is for sure. Where it ends, nobody knows. Entertainment is taking over gambling there. The casinos are having a hard time with the online sites many say. A whole new ball game

Sounds promising, if they come in with an income over the 15th team they will push the cap or drag it down if they come in under. Will be interesting to follow!

I keep thinking that, but seemingly everyday a guy is signed that I would've taken a look at.

Chassion went to Caps today. For free, why not?

Yku mentioned Stafford.

If not, Miller can shift over and we have Nieves. Fast won't be injured forever.

You're right on Chassion. Thought he was already gone tbh.

"We have Nieves" isn't exactly comforting as far as the top 9 goes.

Nieves has played LW before. He or DD can handle temp duty with Puempel on the 4th until Fast gets back. Grabner/Miller/Nash is NOT a bad 3rd line, and it's a fallback for if Anderson isn't ready. Like I said, we're fine.

Would we be allowed to send Lias back to Frolunda mid-season if we do decide to start with him?

I don't feel good about pencilling in an 18-year-old (either for us this season or for his development long-term in the kind of role he's likely to play), but I guess if it's what they want to do it's what they want to do.

I'm sure Gorton has a Plan B option if LA isn't ready. We've been reported as one of the most active teams since the draft and look how it's worked out so far: revamped defense, two potential studs down the middle, and two strong defensive prospects to play a more mobile, two-way game. We just need to be patient

And although people speak so critically of him, a backup who has been a starter for much of the last decade. In front of a team whose struggled defensively.

WPG has been one of the most penalized teams out there... and they lost games and potential playoff appearances because of their shorthanded play and goaltending.

They didn't seem to learn as they just signed another low performing PK goalie in Mason.

Pavs gives up rebounds and is often out of position. The tools are there for the goalie whisperer to work with.

I think overall he's a fine option for a back up provided Hank doesn't get hurt.

Weaker teams, and back to backs.

A stretch with Pavs starting could mean 7-8 seeded team.

So are they really not bringing another F in? Going to dumpster dive on waivers ?

With only one SPC open... that restricts moves during season, but I think yes... you would have to unless they are really high on maybe two-three kids filling roles up front:

Gropp, Nieves, Fontaine.

I think Gropp would add more than Puempel... but I do know that they really like Puempel... personally I don't see anything there, but he does have an NHL hat trick to his name.

It could be that they are much higher on some of the forward kids than this board is. I mentioned Gropp's finish earlier in the summer, and imo he's probably a lot better than what people here give him credit for.

I always said his upside is Jason Chimera... and that's a very useful player this day and age... Plays a hard physical north south game with blazing speed... shows up every shift.

NHL ready skating and body... can he play positional hockey? I think so... he was the Rangers best prospect in Calendar 2017.

Leslie mentioned Fontaine... who I did not pay any attention to... but that's another guy that has a low ceiling, my buddies in the Q think he may be a Cedric Paquette... which isn't a sexy name... but if you look at some the teams that made the final 4 the last few years... they had young grinders that did their jobs.

Finally Nieves... skating and puck skills are there in a vacuum, but I don't see much more than an overly passive player... and is that someone that can play a bottom 6 role? NO.

Is he good enough to play top 6? I don't think so.

Also, we have a plan B for 3C. Miller. It might even turn out to be Plan A come training camp.

I think so. They won't make a trade for a center unless the entire middle of the line up is sub 45% on Faceoffs imo.

The team is two forwards who can play an appropriate bottom 6 role away from contending this year.

That's very attainable... but the team won't go anywhere without that added depth.
