What exactly are the Rangers trading for Sedin to fill their hole at center? Is a 37 year old Henrik Sedin the missing piece? The Rangers need to stop hemorrhaging draft picks. Their system stinks. These guys like Sedin aren't making the Rangers much better.

totally agree with this.

To me, i'm FAR more likely to temper my enthusiasm for players who dominate than i am to hold back criticism on players who stink up the joint.

dominating against kids. meh.

sucking up the joint against kids...now that gets my attention.

It's not even good for that.

A coach most of them have never had before, with teammates they've probably never seen before, at the ass end of summer where they likely haven't played a competitive game in months, in a totally meaningless setting.

I sincerely find it difficult to get ANY feeling from this tournament.

If the team is a playoff team at the deadline, not just a bubble team, and Sedin is the only the sensible option then you better be trying to find a way. He can still play and he absolutely is making the Rangers better. Certainly better at the Center position than Hayes and Miller.

There will definitely be options out there for Center. Here is the list of players due for free agency for next offseason and a lot of them are on teams that could likely be bubble teams or out of the playoff picture:

Joe Thornton*
Paul Stastny*
Henrik Sedin*
Tomas Plekanec
John Tavares
Valtteri Filppula*
Mikhail Grabovski
Bryan Little*
Tyler Bozak*
Kyle Turris*

The other teams sent more 1st and 2nd round picks. Whether or not those picks work out at the NHL level or not, who knows, but in a prospect tourney the teams who send multiple 1st and 2nds from their past three drafts, who also have the 3rds and later picks along with whoever among the undrafted they signed, are going to have more talent on their rosters to work with.

Wouldn't want Grabovski or Plekanec. The latter sucks and the former doesn't even play. Rangers aren't getting Tavares from trade without dismantling half of the team.

Filpulla? No thanks. Stastny isn't getting traded, Blues are better than a bubble team imo.

Little, Bozak, and Turris. Maybe. Sedin isn't going anywhere, especially not without his brother.

The Blues went to the conference finals last season, and added Schenn so I doubt theyre going to be a bubble team this season. Still, they might not intend to re-up Stastny.

Little would be a good get. The cost would be the issue, and Winnipeg doesn't have a replacement unless Petan takes a step and/or Roslovic is ready. Even then, it hurts their offensive depth, and Little is pretty good on both sides of the puck.

I have a hard time seeing Turris leave Ottawa. Turris - Brass - Smith - Pageau is good center depth for them. Unless they think White is good to go, I don't see why they make that move. Pyatt and Thompson as backup Cs wouldn't inspire a hell of a lot of confidence in me.

Bozak is one of the few I see as actually attainable.

Hey man Girardi's gone so we're Cup favorites again. And when Staal goes it's dynasty or bust

If it was an expiring asset, maybe. But the Nucks aren't trading the guy anyway. The Rangers definitively should NOT lose any significant asset for a 37 year old Sedin.

Nothing funnier than reading replies to the Rangers tweets

Almost every single reply to the tweet announcing Holden's new number is some sort of "trade him" statement

Amen and Amen

I'm noticing that Lias said a couple times that he needs to "learn the game over here", "Learn from the coaches and teammates", and "Learn from the Rangers Team"...

I have a feeling he doesn't go back overseas to Sweden... He *wants* to play on small ice, because he knows going back to big ice isn't going to help him.

If he doesn't make the Rangers he might end up going to go to the AHL, which won't affect the contract slide either.

Sheehan is worth a shot but don't want any of the older guys
Don't think Little or Turris are available anyway

If 'peg would move Lowry, go for it.

I am just fine with Lias, Boo, Fontaine in camp for now.

Some team will waive a decent C,
right now league has excess players for rosters,
as Cap gets tight due to too many guys making too much among higher paid 1/2 of the rosters.

Recall Stralman was a post-season-opener add
Find a competent complimentary C without overpay or too damn old

I'd be careful with D'Angelo. He was a third pair defenseman on the 2nd worst team in the league. He has potential and talent but he may need some more time in the AHL. Might not be the worst thing in the world.

It certainly would not. This is a kid who hasn't even yet played 100 games at the AHL level; I can definitely see a scenario where they send him down to him get a ton of ice time and then bring him along a little slower.

The tools are there, but at this point defensive development and opportunity to play/grow are probably the two biggest focus areas.

That list of centers was in consideration for the deadline, not camp.

Ottawa, without Karlsson to start, Macarthur hurt, and losing Methot to expansion, could very well be on the outside looking in this year.

Turris is 28. Does Ottawa re-sign him? Do they rent him to another team for a playoff run and then re-sign him?

Bold statement considering he is, in actuality, not on the Rangers.
