This was our best line. All the proof you need that the order they're listed in is meaningless.

Maybe. But declining Brad Richards, Rick Nash, and MSL were not even close to what Panarin and Zibanejad are right now.

It was a very balanced forward group with no true game breakers.

Shh no one wants to hear that our 2nd line now has more offense than our top line then... They long for the return of torts, every game either 1-0 W or a loss. and a powerplay that was so bad, we argued we should just decline them.

Not sure where you’re getting your stats from - Kreider had 47 EV goals (23 & 24) over that span to lead the team and 7 shorties. I think Kreider AND Kakko should be on Zibanejad’s line. That’s two of the Rangers best all around forwards centered by Mika.
I looked at 5 on 5 numbers (maybe I didn't add right but can't check right now). There's no reason to believe that a coach won't adjust lines to take advantage of non 5 on 5 play. Short handed goals is irrelavent to what line he plays on.

He's led the team in even strength goals each of the last two years. There's no reason to move him.

"Don't touch what's not broken". We will just continue to use our top line as a matchup line instead of a more balance approached, just so we can see Kreider score the most even strength goals. There's nothing wrong with trying that line and seeing if it succeeds while freeing up Zibanejad from the defensive matchups.

I think Kreider will still get his goals, and if putting up 5 or so less goals (5 on 5) means we have a more balance line-up with other players having more room 5 on 5, it seems like something to try.

Kreider on the first line is broken.

He’s fine-ish there. The rest of the team sucks. Something needs to change, including getting your top picks up to speed.

Um... no? Do you even read my posts? I have Kreider / Zibanejad / Kakko as the "top" line, Panarin / Chytil / Lafreniere as the "2nd" line and Vesey / Trocheck / Wheeler as the "3rd line". I think that's as balanced as the Rangers top nine can get with lines "top" and "3rd" probably good (top) to average as far as 5v5 goes.

I don't see the advantage to taking your best even strength goal scorer and pairing him with Vesey and Trocheck. It'll hurt the Rangers scoring for sure.

There are only so many goals a team gets. Figure around 290. Hampering a guy that's averaging 15-18% of your goals scored doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Sanderson signed 8 years 64 mil. Why do the Rangers never lock up their young talent long term, is cause they know they will all be busts?? Could have done that with Miller? They better not let Igor walk. UFA in 25.

They locked up Fox at $9.5M long term. As good as it gets with Dahlin clocking in at >10M and even Sanderson is in the same neighborhood.

They didn't have the cap space to give Miller a long term deal. It's not that hard to understand.

Ok, we are done here. Because you think that's as balance as they get, it means you're right. You can't even separate 5 on 5 goals with even strength, but we're all dumb..

Also, it's Wheeler and Trocheck. Clearly you don't read.

Its a gamble. You either win big or lose big. They are banking on him becoming an all star at a time when the cap, and cap hits, are w to go up a ton. So they will live with an overpayment for a year or two in the hopes that years 5-8 he is underpaid.

I don't think Miller necessarily needed a huge deal anyway.

He had growing pains in 2021, was excellent in 2022, and was fine in 2023.

He's still a player I want to see more of.

It's becoming clear that the benefits of drafting well aren't so much 'cost control' (These guys are getting 90% of what they would in UFA now) it's to avoid the bad end years of a long term contract, having 8 year deals expire at 29-31 instead of 35-36.

8 mil for Sanderson and 10.5 for Dahlin is going to put us in a bind if Miller continues his upward trajectory and cracks 50 points the next 2 years. Fox's contract is an absolute steal though.
