Like seriously he scored 12 Points in 19 games in the regular season and has 6 points in 7 games in the playoffs while here. That really isn’t “nothing”
Yep. And he should be much healthier going forward. I understand he’s a question mark right now but it should be pretty easy to see if he’s right before signing him, and if he is, it’s the definition of a no-brainer.

No but I got depth

Like the lines projection here towards the end…

Kreider - Mika - Kakko
Panarin - Trocheck - Wheeler
Laf - Chytil - Vesey
Goodrow - Bonino - Pitlick

Thoughts?

I dont hate it.. I'm not crazy about Panarin and Trocheck together again though. Maybe Laviolette gets more out of them? I still like the idea of Kreider & Trocheck as a match-up line

It's crazy this kid never got a single NHL game. Lots of competition on those Leaf teams at the time. You'd think he could try breaking in on a bottom feeder.. off to Europe it was though.

We don't have many roster spots but thought it would've been cool to bring him on a 2nd chance this year. Throw in some incentive.. if you make the team, great. If not, you could be like several of the other depth guys Drury brought in that'll be making close to, or more than half a million to play in the minors this year.

That’s a long way from Freeport, Long Island.

And when Laf scores 40 points again he's a bust right? Getting garbage ice time with Vesey as his linemate on the 3rd line and no PP time.

If the Rangera do that they deserve the mediocrity they sow.

I'd flip Vesey with Wheeler.

I'd rather have legit offensive talent with Lafreniere than vesey. Let Jimmy work with AP and VT.

This is one of the better line suggestions I have seen. Most others force someone into the top 6 that should not be there. I am specifically talking about Laf and Chytil. If they somehow start producing consistently then it can be a discussion point but until then it should not be forced. Can't get the fact out of my mind that FC scored only 3 goals in the last 30 games of the year and was a no show in the playoffs.

Eh, we've seen Kreider/Mika/Kakko before and while they put up nice fancy stats they just can't put the puck in the net. I don't mind giving it another try because Kakko did seem a little more aggressive/confident towards the end of last season. Panarin and Kakko together score and it kind of makes sense if you think it about it because Kakko is Fast with a little less footspeed but incredibly better at everything else. He wins loose puck battles, breaks up plays, is good at defense, and has the possession skills to open up lanes to find Panarin and then let Panarin do his thing. Give them two Mika who is Strome on steroids and that's a legit top line. Kreider/Trocheck/Wheeler seems like a really good 2nd line that is built to cycle and grind teams down. With Panarin on that 2nd line instead of Kreider it all of the sudden becomes another line that's going to be floating and waiting for Panarin to find an open man. You know who likes to float in the o-zone...Mika. Mika sucks off the cycle nowadays.

Clowe getting a bit more of a voice in the organization.

The only news I can break on here is what comes through Newfoundland news outlets

Once in a lifetime opportunity for me.

I don't really care which center they play with, but these are the wingers who should be paired -

Kreider and Kakko
Laf and Wheeler
Panarin and Vesey

I have my preferences for who should be the 3rd player on each line but the honest truth is that it doesn't really matter all that much.

Vesey on the 2nd line. Interesting.

The cup finalists last year had the likes of Brett Howden and Nick Cousins in the top 6 for their teams.

It's not that big of a deal. Plus the whole "1st line, 2nd line, 3rd line" thing is overblown.
yeah but the difference between vegas' top 6 vs our top 6 is they consistently showed perseverance and cohesion. in florida's case this came true from the final month of the regular season and the post season. ours just didn't show up.

You mean January? Halfway thru the season? Lol what. Everything you said was assumption and not based in fact or even reality considering he has shown he can still produce, as recently as last year.
January is an assumption too. So is the assumption that he will be healthy and good as new.

There were issues with Bracco a few years back and there would be issues with him now. We're not really looking for immediate center help in respect to point production. We have Mika, Filip and Trocheck for that. Before it was Mika, Strome and even Fliip was a much better option then. Without really looking at Toronto Marlies games I still had to wonder about all these Maple Leafs fans looking to dump his ass and Bracco's own level of engagement--his last year with the Marlies he ended up with 4 goals and 2 pm. Whether he's 5'8(Hockey database) or 5'11 (elite prospects) with his profile he wasn't going to be a checking center and he wasn't going to battle for and take away a 1C, 2C or 3C job. So what he could do for us besides play in Hartford I'm not really sure.

As far as Mr. Bracco's shootout goal. Plenty of guys have skills galore. Not every skill player has enough drive to be an NHL player or even adapt their games to playing roles down in the lineup. Some guys have such skillsets they turn into great big teases like our mercurial top 10 Russian draft pick of a few years ago. The guy who originally scored the first Michigan goal I don't believe played even one NHL game. It's why a term such as suck doesn't really apply to a whole host of hockey players who aren't NHL worthy. It's not like they're not talented it's just that for one reason or another whether it's personal determination or an injury etc. they're just not going to make it. That said some people's attitudes do suck and quite often there's nothing anyone can do about it.

How come Vegas' top 6 didn't show enough perseverance to make the playoffs the year prior?

Or don't have your #1 overall pick still relegated to 3rd line garbage ice time.

Keep doing the same crap expecting different results.

It would be vindication for the "Laf is a bust" crowd, which unfortunately is the loudest most obnoxious bunch on these boards. Because if that's how he's used and he doesn't score 80 points from the 3rd line with no PP1 time, they can puff their chest.

Chytil has earned the right to play with wingers who aren't Laf and whatever 4th liner we have to shoehorn into that 9th forward spot.

Laf's PP production is the worst in the league. That doesn't exactly scream "put your 1OA on the PP immediately!"

Who are you sitting? Panarin or Kreider? And how much pressure does that put on your already much-maligned 1OA to produce immediately because of the guys he's replace who are PROVEN PP performers?

It's a bad idea all around until the kid gets some confidence.

Personally I'd take Panarin off the PP and make him earn his way back on after what he did in the playoffs last year.

Doesn't mean I'd replace him with Laf or even consider this to be a long term thing but all I've heard from his support group is how Gallant was bad for him and he needs a hard ass approach to return to form.

Okay then, lets see it.
