I was pretty disgusted with this team after those playoffs, but I gotta say I’m actually pretty excited about all the behind the bench moves Drury has made. Like, normally it’s a prospect or two or free agent that I look forward to seeing that gets me hyped but this new staff has given me some hope on the direction things are going. I’m officially ready to devote all my free time to thinking about this team again.

Last season was some of the ugliest, boring hockey I can remember seeing from recent memory. If these moves fix that than at the very least it’s a win for me.

They had a nice offseason and hit on all cylinders. They actually might have too much depth this year and block some young players.

I'm cautiously optimistic it'll be a fun season and they have the potential for a good run in the spring.

True enough...and like you...I'm a bit nervous of ice time allotment to go around .

It can be good or it can be bad but it is kinda nice to see the team change out some management pieces and move on from some stuff behind the scenes.

Last year the team just didn't "click" for long stretches and unfortunately Gallant's style just kind of relies on natural chemistry and playesr clicking together to get going. Watching them bumble around in those slow stretches was tough

I don’t see Lindgren’s health being a real issue for another 4-5 years. And even then you can LTIR him. Cap will be increasing too.
Totally agree:
Never Give Up No Surrender GIF - Never Give Up No Surrender Monty ...

:sarcasm:

I don't see that happening.
Whether or not it actually happens, or it should, are possibly 2 dif things.
But if the correct course of action is suggested, mgmt needs to be called out if it does not go there.

Ludicrous. Who are you playing @ 1LD and 2RD? And, if you say Miller and Schneider, who's playing 2LD and 3RD? Gustafsson and Jones (that's a horrible thought) and who at RD on the bottom pair?
Stop w/destructive win now mentality, constantly proven to = epic fail.
Our keepers are Fox + Schneider on RD, KAM on LD
Move Jones as soon as we get decent offer.
Gus is a stopgap
Robertson + Scanlin w/Scan pushing out Gus = our immediate future
Jones briefly 3RD after Trouba dealt mostly for futures, Emberson
Lindy to ANA for pick + 2nd rounder selection RD Helleson

What is BEYOND ludicrous is continuing to go w/mo expensive vets over typically cheaper youth, which = restraints vs better cap mgmt

When will R mgmt admit I'm right and listen?

Thank god you're behind a keyboard and not our GM.

You're entitled to yr opinion.
Fact is, my track record is usually correct on this, exceptions to the rule notwithstanding.

Only have to see how foolish rental overreaches have resulted in zero cups and an actual weakening of our chances the following season to KNOW I am right.

til later peeps

Bern, I love ya, but your track record is not great. You do realize the Rangers play in the NHL not the OHL right? How young can they possibly get?

Your "track record" is non existent.

Lindgren hasn't played a full 82 game season in his career. Signing him to a 7 year contract no matter what the cap hit is, would be a disaster. Other teams aren't as stupid as the Rangers are, all they have to do is look it up and see he won't ever fulfill that contract and he will be un-movable.

I love Lindy but man couldn't we get some sweet trade value back here? He has a bigger shine playing on this team next to a generational D man and all. I also think Foxy could play next to one of our many draft picks.

What would trading him at the draft potentially net us?

You remember how Fox wasn't himself when Lindgren was hurt. It showed. Id give him more years only to bring the cap hit down. Most years I'd go is 6.

It's not because of significant injuries. Last season was the only season he missed significant time.

The 2019-20 season he played 9 games in the AHL and 60 of the 70 NHL games (covid) that season. The 2020-21 season he played 51 of 56 games (covid) and then 2021-22 season he played 78 of 82 (then 17 playoff games).
