Where do the Penguins find these guys like Tanev ? He has been a real thorn in these 4 games with the Penguins . He has been like a buzz saw ...his wheels never stop turning .
many people mocked them when they sign into that contract as a UFA, but he is a legit contributing bottom six forward, the kind every team would want

How veteran are we talking? Like are we looking for a guy who has been in the league a little while or are we looking at an older player who can provide some leadership and steady the ship

I think ideally they'd like a mid-career guy who can play for a few years (if he sticks great, if a young talent pushes him great).

But that comes with a higher cost all-around. So you might have a situation where you're looking at a player with an expiring contract.

6:14PM: According to Darren Dreger on TSN, there is “a ton of interest, all the sudden,” in Tony DeAngelo and a trade could happen “within the next few days.”

NYR News > There is “a ton” of interest in Tony DeAngelo

The "All the sudden" wording if true, makes me wonder if some other teams have come upon some players that want out of whatever locker room they are in and some matches could be made. Still would not expect too much out of any deal for the Rangers.

@Edge , is Yandle a legitimate option? I would like to see him back here -- maybe if Florida retains $1.5M to get the cap hits the same for both teams?

We take Florida's headache who they don't want playing
Florida takes our headache who we don't want playing
Cap hits stay the same
Florida gets a nice offensive bump

On the NYR side, Yandle provides veteran presence, and also has a very nice trickle-down effect for both Miller and Lindgren (e.g. takes the pressure off).

I can't see why this isn't a good trade other than the extra year of the contract, but my thought is at that point, the rangers can then retain another $1.65M and trade him at that years deadline -- Yandle would be a 3.15M defender... Marc Staal pulled in a 2nd rounder with full salary from a bottom feeder, no doubt Yandle gets more than that even at age 35-36

Yandle could be an option. To be clear, I have not heard his specific name come up, but Florida is a team that was mentioned as a possible destination for ADA.

Now, those two aspects could be connected, or they could just be a coincidence. That I don't know at this time.

I'll be surprised if we can compete with Boston, Washington and Philly without our 1C and 1G.

The next fortnight will be sink or swim. Hopefully everything clicks soon. I think a trade needs to happen before Thursday...

Weegar would be ok .... Stralman more likely given the circumstances though

any chance for Borgstrom?

Maybe our 'NCAA whisperer' can get something out of him?

I did like the one stats guy pointing out that the Staal-ADA pairing was very successful, though.

Anyway, I wouldn't mind seeing Nick Holden's beautiful smile again, assuming we're out of the running for a center we can use. Is there any way to get Howden going with any of the skill guys?

Nick Holden was/is a serviceable defenseman. Can certainly carry the third pair.

He also spends most of the warmup flipping picks up on the screen behind the goal so they fall to fans below. My grandson was amazed I knew exactly where to stand to get a puck for him.

For what? I dont feel like just giving Gauthier away. Hajek is meh to me.
A player like Borgstrom from Florida. A similar situation as to some of our past youngins. Decided to stay in Finland, still unsigned but I believe he has a NHL opt-out clause. From what I've gathered, he's playing better now @Amazing Kreiderman would know A LOT more

It makes a lot of sense. He's been in the NCAA and excelled greatly there ( Quinn's specialty? ). He's a promising young center that still needs to put it together. Was not happy with his role in Floirda. Florida has Barkov and Lundell for the future.

I continue to think that the future looks like this:

Miller - Trouba
Lindgren - Fox
Roberson - Schneider

Yes, I realize that Lundqvist is not there. Just a feeling that I have. Still, if this can happen, having 5 homegrown defensemen out of 6 is a great way to be able to manage the cap and would be a HUGE testament to the front office and scouting staff.
Jones. Lundkvist as well.

Dreger reporting there is A LOT of interest in DeAngelo. Could be moved in the next day or two.

But I thought he would never play in the NHL again?

Yandle is terrible on Defense. Gets pinned in his own end. 3 years left on that contract. No thanks

Wondering if a bad rebuilding team like Detroit or Anaheim is thinking of a reclamation project.....

Börgström is playing alright. He's not lighting it up in Helsinki to be honest but as a change-of-scenery type it wouldn't hurt.

He would not be a any help this season. It would be a move for the future
