Not sure if this is the right place to ask but here it goes:

I was hoping a Rangers fan could give me a breakdown of Shesterkin for Fantasy hockey purposes.

He hit waivers after a couple of bad early games but his stats look good in the past couple. How has he looked? Were those early games a fluke or maybe even these last few were flukes?
What kind of time is he going to get? Half and half with Georgiev or will he get 60%+?

I’d really appreciate any help as I need a goalie and I’m eyeing your young star (but Brobrosky who I have currently has had a solid start) and please try to be objective, this is a 300 dollar buy in fantasy league!

Asking fans if their starting goalie is objectively any good.... this will go well.

Most of us think he is a legit #1 and the heir apparent to Hank. He has dominated at every level (Russian juniors, KHL, AHL) prior to coming up, and was dominant in his first taste of the NHL last season. Frankly, a large portion of the board is a bit irritated at the org's insistence at playing Georgiev as much as they have to start the season as we feel it's prevented Igor from getting into a groove.

Gotcha. I watched the games against the Penguins and I was impressed so I’d be pretty surprised if they didn’t give Igor more looks because of it

Problem is the coach and we can't give you an accurate answer. Twice this year already Shesty should have started but he gave Georgiev the start. Now with tougher competition on the horizon who knows what will happen.
Having said that Shesty to me is without a doubt the best goalie this team has. I don't think last year was a fluke when he put up ridiculous numbers on a below average team.

@Edge , is Yandle a legitimate option? I would like to see him back here -- maybe if Florida retains $1.5M to get the cap hits the same for both teams?

We take Florida's headache who they don't want playing
Florida takes our headache who we don't want playing
Cap hits stay the same
Florida gets a nice offensive bump

On the NYR side, Yandle provides veteran presence, and also has a very nice trickle-down effect for both Miller and Lindgren (e.g. takes the pressure off).

I can't see why this isn't a good trade other than the extra year of the contract, but my thought is at that point, the rangers can then retain another $1.65M and trade him at that years deadline -- Yandle would be a 3.15M defender... Marc Staal pulled in a 2nd rounder with full salary from a bottom feeder, no doubt Yandle gets more than that even at age 35-36

Haha I know. It’s a bold strategy but I was more interested in hearing what kind of minutes he’s projected to get
Quinn's plan right now is to alternate starts for Georgiev and Shesty.

But...as we all can guess, that plan can easily go to shit if one has a few good starts and the other doesn't. Also, with teams getting their games delayed/rescheduled, and with it affecting the Rangers a bit... :dunno:

I think the Rangers will continue to keep an eye out for a center and I think they'd like to have a veteran defenseman.
How veteran are we talking? Like are we looking for a guy who has been in the league a little while or are we looking at an older player who can provide some leadership and steady the ship

Please no on Yandle.

Doesn't he have an extra year on his deal?

Get Bennett and hope for the best, or just send him home and buy him out in the offseason.

Don't take on a bad deal imo

Bennett would be more than I expect . Likely have to take Ryan for salary too and maybe send a cheap F back

I just don't want the Rangers to dig the ditch any deeper.

There was a time to get value and that is gone.

If it were just Ryan and he's a UFA after this season, I prolly take that and roll the dice for Bennett

For a team that's having trouble defending, I'm not so sure Keith Yandle is the answer.

Are we okay with losing Drury to Pittsburgh?

Tough to say what we are losing here, but if he's going to be an inexperienced yes-man to Mario, who apparently wants to push forward with the aging Crosby/Malkin/Letang core, I'm all for it. That'll bite them in a few years time.
