Leafs have a need at RD

Would St.Louis or Boston (fans) consider...

2025 2nd
2026 1st
Domi ($ equalizer)

Would be willing to include Robertson, Timmins and/or Dewar if either team had interest.

For either Parayko or Carlo? No retention required.

Thanks in advance for the productive feedback =)

What’s the cost on Faulk? Ideally 50% retained, but can get a third team in on that.

Would be a massive upgrade on Timmins as our 3RHD

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH, NO from this Blues fan.

Parayko is our only - literally our only - competent right-handed defenseman. You're expecting us to trade him for f***ing scraps and no replacement?

Again, nice try, but no.

Parayko would have a pretty crazy price, I'll just leave it at that.

I don't know what direction your team is going in, is it a retool or sell job? A lot of your roster players have been in rumors so I am not sure if it's a futures based kind of package or something more current you would like?

I believe Hanifin was a 1st and a 3rd but he was a pending UFA so I upped it to a 2nd as the primary assets.

If you're just re-tooling and hoping to quickly be competitive again than yea, I get why the 1st and 2nd weren't as appealing.

I would do that deal: 1st, 2nd and Robertson for Carlo.

We're trying to integrate younger players into our roster while being competitive in the meantime; ownership can't afford a total teardown because of fan support (and yes, the Blues have a lot of support thanks to the baseball team having poor everything from the top down, but that doesn't mean that we can afford a teardown), so we've been retooling with younger players, stopgaps, and current vets to retain our culture and trying to build from the ground up.

But that doesn't mean that we can afford to trade Parayko. Binnington and Schenn? Sure. Buchnevich? Maybe. But not Parayko: we have no right-handed defensemen in our pipeline unless you count Adam Jiricek, who has been injured a lot this year, and very well might never make it if he keeps getting injured. We have no right-handed defenseman ready to replace his defensive contributions; he's our best defender, and we can't afford to trade him at the moment; otherwise, we're stuck with Justin Faulk (who has been one of the single worst defensemen in the league this year), Matt Kessel, and Samuel Johannesson (if you don't know who he is, congrats; most casual Blues fans - not the ones here - don't either) as our right-handed depth with none in Springfield; every other defenseman is left-handed.

Even if we dealt for someone like Simon Nemec or Brandt Clarke, that's still only replacing Faulk's offense, not Parayko's defense, and while we can afford mistakes and inconsistency from our younger players, we can't expect them to immediately step into the number one role, especially with the penalty kill.

To put it bluntly, to everyone expecting to get Parayko, we need an actual replacement who can immediately step in and replicate his defensive production, and I doubt you have that or are willing to give it up. While our first-round pick is going to help, a late first in 2026 and a second in a very weak 2025 draft does nothing to help our current retool.

Only way I can see Parayko leaving the Blues is if either he asks to be traded or there is a massive overpayment... neither are met in this scenario. I've mentioned this in other threads, Parayko has crazy value, but has even more value to the Blues. So whatever you think he's actually worth, it'll cost you more to pry him away.

Faulk maybe.

Swap Domi for Marner if you want Parayko.

Good lord. 1st 2nd + for CARLO? Jesus christ...

This guy is Justin Holl 2.0 for god sakes

IF he were available I would certainly pay more than Domi, a first and a second for him

Regardless of why their direction is, if they Parayko on the market, they’d get flooded with much better offers.

Totally fair.

Does it work if we take back Timmins and Reaves?

Yeah, that would work.

Front office has expressed virtually 0 interest in bottoming out.

Quickest way for us to bottom out would be trading Parayko.

Hence the issue in regards to a late 1st and a 2nd being the return for Parayko.

Most of the rumors that come out seem to be from Canadian outlets and it's largely speculation. I would imagine it's because Parayko and Schenn as well are both needs for Toronto/Vancouver/Edmonton/Winnipeg.

Availability wise if you want a top 4 RD you can make an offer for Faulk in the realm of futures. We can replace what he's giving us in the next couple years internally or get a different look externally. Moving Parayko means we're heading straight to the bottom which would be a very bad idea given how many young forward we have coming in to the NHL already starting this year.

Please. Bruins fans can't wait for the day Carlo is off their team

I won't speak for everyone but I would guess it's a vocal minority that have an axe to grind with him because he's not a hitting machine like any of the 2011 roster.

He's not without faults and this season has not been his strongest but he's been a fixture in our top 4 for many years. He's a great defensive dman with a great ability to shutdown the other team while taking a significant amount of DZ starts especially in the last 3 years. He's as offensively inept as they come but the Bruins and Bruins fans should not be begging to get the guy off our team by any means.

Blues fans have been awesome in advising why it doesn't work in a respectful way, I totally understand why the proposal doesn't meet the needs for the Blues at this time.

Carlo is probably the focus at this point then if the Bruins would deal with a divisional rival.

The problem is he hasn't been rock solid defensively for at least 2 seasons. So he provides 0 offense and hit or miss defense, without much physicality these days.

Yup, that's Justin Holl
