Totally understand where you are coming from. Definitely no slam dunk. I think from my perspective, I view this teams actual window opening sometime around the 23-24 season. Everyone talks about "growing pains" during a rebuild and I think that is the phase we are in now. I actually thought they would move Kreider as well. Post-pandemic in a flat cap world, with hindsight that contract obviously looks worse than it did at the time of the signing. However, his modified NTC kicks in 23-24 and I think they will be able to move the contract if necessary. I believe they tried to move Strome and DeAngelo this off season but could not find the right deal. Think Strome is fine as a stop gap and unfortunately he is actually our best performing center at the moment. Like I said, I don't expect the organization to get things right 100% of the time. Overall, I think they are getting more things right than wrong. Does this team still have a bunch of holes, yes, but those were my expectations heading into the season. Again, just my opinion but I can actually see a grand plan which hopefully fills those holes and ends up with a few Stanley Cups in our future. Just going to need a little patience.i was stunned Kreider wasn't moved at the deadline. To a lesser extent, i figured Strome was gone too. Possibly ADA and Fast would be shipped out.
Now here are. Kreider long term, Stome is back and ADA was resigned and benched after a game and now is sitting. That's a lot of money tied up in the above and what did the Ranger obtain at the trade deadline for the above? Nothing. They took on cap dollars.
Now if the team was winning i think we could all feel better. But we're losing and are not scoring. And these prospects, i know Kakko had ice time last night, but so often they aren't getting much ice time while these veterans are doing what?
We hope this irons itself out. It's no slam dunk though
Just to clarify, by 23-24 window I mean actually having a chance to win the Cup. I expect our young talent to develop and make the playoffs starting next year.
