In that not every player has a uniform skill set? Sure

But Gauthier and Kreider would both be better in stretch pass schemes

Kakko, Lafreniere, and PDG would all be better with a system more focused on extended puck possession.

This team has a lot of skilled forwards that are not producing the way they should be, and that's a problem. If it's not the system then you're stuck with a depressing alternative which is that Kakko, Lafreniere, and Kreider just aren't that good.

By and large only Zibanejad and Kreider are not producing as expected. Unfortunately they are our 1C and 1(2)LW.

Kakko and Laf are so early in their careers there could be no production expectations per se, especially if we chalk Kakko's last season to "adjustment to the NHL". Then we are barely dealing with a handful of games on team where its first line center is playing barely as a 3C and its up-and-coming 22-yo center is injured and there's no one else to step up.

As far as Lafreniere is concerned specifically, in the normal season high-end prospects at this level typically start producing in about last 1/3 of their rookie season. Him being able to keep up with the game at this time point is all I really expect.

When was the last time Gorton really made a splash that altered the team in a significant or somewhat significant way? I don't count lucking into the #1 pick as a splash, nor do I count the Staal trade as a splash even if it was an addition by subtraction.

How about trading for Adam Fox?

Also Mike Sullivan is 100% getting canned in the off-season

Fire Quinn hire Sullivan summer 2021

You mean the guy half the board hated when he was an assistant here?

Some people won't be happy with the coaches no matter what they do. The Rangers could win every game the rest of this season and in the playoffs and people would still want Quinn fired because he played Georgiev once when they thought he should have played Shesterkin.

If I was running the Rangers, Brian Burke would be my GM. Torts would be my head coach. Craig Berube and Gerard Gallant the assistants. My goalie coach would be Ron Hextall. My sports psychologist would be Sean Avery. Especially if you want to talk about "sloppy seconds".

I'd fire Sam and Joe in favor of Rob Ray and Stu Grimson.

Matt Barnaby and Pj Stock would do radio.

Nick Fotiu would replace Bill Pidto

My team would certainly blow. But every night I'd be 3 sheets to the wind yelling "Rawhide!!" at the big screen from my Lazy Boyee.

In that this team doesn't really have a set style that they try to play. It's always let the other team lead the dance and hope that your guys are ready to play and/or your PP is clicking.

it doesn't have to be uniform across the board, for instance, I would NEVER try to get Panarin to play more of a "grinding" game but there needs to be some direction for the majority.

Forget the production for now, what exactly are they trying to accomplish as a group? Because I don't see what they're trying to do.

So Georgijev is on the net tomorrow against the Bruins.

Like I said yesterday, if DQ was always going to play Georgijev this week then he should've been on the net yesterday against the Islanders and Shesty gets both games against the Bruins...

nope, we want Quinn gone because hes a jackass, with no nhl experience and no experience coaching or developing 1st OA prospects into NHL performers. management has their heads up their @sses with this guy here.

He’s a better coach than Quinn soooo yeah

Lol, Gorton kind of was forced in avoidance of any "splashes" by lucking into #1 and #2 OA, no? Otherwise, what do you consider signing Panarin, trading for Trouba, and Fox? We're talking about that year's biggest UFA, a very big RFA and the biggest or at least one of coming out of college?

Don't know why I quoted my own post like a moron but any of you stat ho's check out the point totals of the top 2 players in their class over the last 15 or so years?
Nevermind. I'm bored. I'll check it out myself.

Bet its not pretty in regards to the top 2 in the 19 and 20 draft.

Trouba, panarin and fox. All 1 season ago. How frequently do people expect big splashes? Especially when the league has no cap space
Yea I was thinking about trades but of all roster moves Bread def the most recent big splash, which is fine.
