I dunno man, Holland left us with a younger team that just went to game 7 of the finals. The new management team made a conscious decision to replace the younger players with older established veterans, and so far that is turning out to be a gigantic mistake. If Katz has to call his employees to keep them active then maybe he should find new ones.
And Holland left us with a bunch of trash and no prospects. There's also several other picks the Oilers missed out on, something that has plagued them for years.
This refrain is going to get real old real fast over the next couples of years, but if you take out Skinner, Arvidsson, Henrique, Brown, and replace them with Holloway, McLeod, Foegle, and maybe some younger cheap pickups, this roster is looking a lot more promising. You still could've grabbed Podkolzin and kept Holloway. They still could've made the Ceci for Emberson deal.
I thought the moves were good at the time, but in hindsight, they basically blew up a core of young players that had a ton of playoff experience (particularly McLeod and Holloway, given that Foegele is a bit older). Henrique over McLeod is turning out to be a disastrous decision.
