Are we giving up four 1st rounders for Cirelli in an offer sheet? Or do you have a scenario where we trade for his RFA rights first?
4 1sts? A 1st and a 3rd in an alleged 'weak draft'. IF they sign Sergachev first, it would really force them ( if Cirelli was offersheeted ). I'd assume if they intend to keep both, both will be sign at the same time.

The unpopular choice is Lundkvist. Or the not as bad but still unpopular choice is Kravtsov. ( IMO Kravtsov will not be here in the future )

It would most likely take a top tier prospect or a a few good ones. Their cupboard is bare. They have Foote but he ( or Cernak ) may even be exposed in the expansion draft. We may even expand the trade and get Cernak back for this reason.. ( If the deal involves Lundkvist )

Lundkvist + moar prospects/picks
for
Cirelli and Cernak

ADA moves to the Left or is moved for salary purposes. Strome is 100% gone IMO.

Busy week at work. Can someone sum up any important news developments or rumors re: the Rangers since the AHL signing frenzy last week?

A guy like Colin Wilsson for a bargain bin contract under 900 k per would not be a bad idea. He would be a bit of a gamble considering his recent injury history. But... he also plays both C and wing and is still not that old. Is a certified NHLer though - with some character - that might offset losing Quickie a bit. 632 games, 286 points, decent size, PKer...outta the NYR preferred Northeast USA hockey schools and a BU alumni guy (seems to fit The Mighty Quinn’s preference in every which way). Could be an upgrade providing depth over our signed tweeners that does not break the camels cap back. I have heard that name thrown around a bit. He will likely go late, dirt cheap as the UFA situation looks now. Colorado looks like they have moved on when glancing at their current fwd roster...
underrated player. id take a chance at him. although wish he was more physical. is he actually good along the boards?

So do we think that all these leftover UFA's are on hold for the next few weeks while RFA business gets settled?

Pretty surprised Hoffman is still out there. Does he still have stink on him from the Ottawa drama?

I remember Avs fans saying he is a complete zero when it comes to defense. Didn't hear anything about board play/dirty areas but I wouldn't assume anything good considering the prior comment.

pass on him then. Rangers need complete players to help their youth that might not be good at defense in their development. no thanks

If Cirelli signs an offer sheet for under 7m, Tampa matches without thinking

I think I’ve said it here a few times but a deal around lundkvist and Sergachev makes a lot of sense for both teams. Regardless of how much you like Lundkvist he will be the third right d man here. He won’t play ahead of Trouba and Fox. I personally rather have a guy like Schneider in that 5/6 spot. Lundkvist is a top prospect no question but sometimes you have to move guys if you have a surplus to fill a need and Sergachev would be a great get there.

And for this reason DeAngelo will be gone in a matter of time whether it’s now(don’t think so) next year or the year after as well if he’s not moving to the left side.

not a chance in hell i’m helping the Lightning out of cap hell and increasing the likelihood our Rangers go there. And if Sergachev was going to be a Ranger he should have come here in the Mac/Miller trade. Keep Nils and let Tampa figure out their mess.

that’s not helping the lightning. They don’t want to lose Sergachev. That’s getting a good player that otherwise wouldn’t be available if not for the cap issues

There are cap issues so you are helping the Lightning. You’re giving them a cheap talent while the Rangers get a more expensive talent.

The Rangers are largely done in free agency. They are up against the cap with buyout penalties and potential performance bonuses to account for. Gorton and JD have been doing a media tour emphasizing that they are thinking about “tomorrow” and the “future” this offseason.

Strome and DeAngelo filed for salary arbitration. Typically the Rangers resolve these things short of the hearing but with their cap situation they may need to go through the full process with those two. They remain trade candidates. @Edge said that the Rangers are listening to offers on DeAngelo but will not move him unless the offer is worth it.

yes they have to move a player they love because of their cap issues. We have LD issues so we might want to move a prospect we love but that plays a position we are strong in.

that’s called a good trade for us
