I wasn't a fan of our approach to Andersson the last year, and I still think there's a good NHL potential lurking in there.

But having said that, this kid has managed to get on the wrong side of some people who are genuinely hard to piss off and his reactions border on narcissistic at best, and almost sociopathic at worst.
Seems like a quiet day at the office today eh?

Panarin - Zib - Kakko
Kreider - Jumbo - Buch
Laf - Strome - Chytil
Lemieux - Howden - Gauthier

Chara - DeAngelo
Lindgren - Fox
Miller - Trouba

Jumbo is not a 2nd line center anymore. He slows the game down and controls the play. I'm not sure how that mixes with high speed Kreider. I'd love if we could get us a center who can PK as well. Stat wise in PPGA/60, Strome was actually our best forward. Scary.

Throwing your silver medal is now official diagnosis for bad character traits.

Boy one of these days I hope we get the straight dope on this.

Elliotte mentions on 31T that there are heavy rumors STL may file tampering charges on Vegas.
Yeah it's obvious something was going on there. I believe the whole "fly him out and show him around" was a very public dog and pony show to try and make it seem like nothing fishy had happened

Elliotte also mentions players in Vegas aren't happy being mentioned in trade rumors, "bent out of shape" is the term he used.

Mentions Fleury (obviously), Patches, Marchessault, Alec Martinez and Tuch.

Also mentions how they fired Gallent when they had a verbal agreement on an extension. Says vegas is getting a reputation for themselves.

A few other nuggets from 31T:

- Says Vegas was in on Hall. Says he believes the offer was 1/5.
- Says Tampa has gone to Stamkos to see if he would waive his NTC. Says Vegas also investigated that as well.

No I was told it’s because Quinn loves Howden. It has nothing to do with Lias’ horrendous attitude.

lmfao they really do be living up to their city’s stereotype though

For all those thinking Howden got special treatment---the way I look at is that Howden outworked and outhustled Lias at almost every turn. Howden has also shown a greater willingness to do the unappreciated jobs necessary to make a team successful.
He might not be very good but I definitely understand why Howden was playing over Lias, especially since all thts come out about his toxic attitude

IMO Howden could have used some time in Hartford---the Rangers were so short on NHL level players that guys who weren't ready got thrown in at the deep end. I don't think Howden is physically mature quite yet and I don't think a lot of the heat he's taken is quite fair. Making that jump from the CHL straight to the NHL is skipping an entire stage of development and I expect he will get better as he gets older and stronger.

I completely agree, I think we rushed Howden a bit. I think we forget tht his first camp, he looked REALLY good, and in the first 15-20 games he was playing very good hockey. In retrospect I think we should have sent him back to Hartford at about the midway point of his rookie year, because his game fell off a cliff by that point. He clearly looked tired and overmatched.

He DID that all his career until like 3-4 years ago.

JD and JG already said they did not want to commit to 3 years even for 2 million. They will probably need every dollar to sign some important players at that time especially if the cap is still flat. It is what it is.
I assume they would have made a more-competitive offer had it not been for Covid. At least I’d like to believe that. Because if not, they really should have traded him at the TDL.

This situation is really my only quibble with the FO.
