Florida, Vancouver, Vegas the most likely Deangelo trade destinations now?

Vegas would come off that list if they sign Pietrangelo

Anyone else? Dark horse(s)?

Well you really only deal DeAngelo if a LD top 4 comes back so I would Look at teams rosters . Nyr would deal from a strength to fill a weakness and so would they. Who’s stacked on LD

Most people want instant gratification. Buying into a process is not easy. Instead of being excited about the bright future this team has they are too concerned with trivial deals like the one for JJ or getting bent out of shape that we couldn't find the money to give Fast a 3 year deal. The real deals are coming in time. The rest is just noise.
I’m 95% in agreement, but I do understand where the JMFJ catastrophists are coming from. The Staal trade felt like a management awakening, proof that they understood how truly bad a player Marc now is and that they’d be achieving addition by subtraction, hence it being worth it to attach a good pick.

Turns out the move was purely financial. They would have kept him had he made less money. Since that wasn’t an option, they went out and got another guy to fill that role. It’s poor talent evaluation and/or nepotism, and I’m not sure which is worse.

Is it CAR again? Winger prospect for Jake Bean?

I am thinking they want a proven player

May aswell wait for Miller , Robertson , Jones to arrive next year

Hope Hajek or Reunanen take 3rd pair minutes from JJ and they can trade Smith

Everyone is talking about the negative impact Johnson has on the ice. No one is talking about the boost a team gets when he leaves. LA traded him and won 2 Cups in 3 years. Columbus ditched him and won their first playoff series killing the giant Tampa Bay Lightning. We only need to wait one season to get that boost.

What about our boost of losing Ruff and Staal in the same offseason?

Sign/awarded: Georgie (2 mil), Lemmy (1.25), Strome (4.2), ADA (5.2)

Laf Ziba Buch
Pan Strome Kakko
Krieder Chytil Kratvsov
Lemmy Howton Gauthier
Rooney

Lindy Fox
Smith Trouba
Bitetto ADA
Johnson

4.8 perf bonus withholding, leaves us a tad over 1.12 mil on cap. I have Krat making the team and our younger D starting in bubble AHL. LD an unpinned hand grenade but I’ve got a good feeling with Bitetto for some odd reason and believe Miller makes the jump half way through pushing everyone not named Lindgren down (after Bitetto gets his 19 games). His perf bonus is 300k so it’s manageable. If Krat doesn’t make it and we push up Gauthier/Rooney and add a 13th, we save another 1 mil on cap b/c his bonus is a steep 850k.

Dumb question, don't the players that get exposed in the expansion draft have to be under contract for 21-22 season? If that's the case JJ wouldn't help there...who do we expose on the D side?

I dunno. Bean is 22 and buried under crazy depth. Someone on the Canes board just suggested Bean plus Dzingel for Buch. Tempting to me.

We have the number one cupboard of young talent in the sport.

We’ve collected in 30 months what some teams don’t collect in a decade.

We signed Jack Johnson for six months and a bunch of guys to fill out the AHL roster.

What rejects are we banking our future on?

What golden opportunities are we passing on that don’t involve a trade?

A week ago, almost everyone knew our solutions were going to come via trade. Nothing has changed in that time.

The criticism of the JJ signing is ridiculous.

Our D coach coached him last season, our Prez has seen him nightly for years. We know exactly what we are getting and decided that it was worth a 1 year buriable contract.

The Cap is remaining flat 21/22 and 22/23 too. Even if money is of the books, it won’t be easy for us. What irks me the most is also that this and next season also are ‘golden’ contender years for teams coming of a rebuild while the kids are on ELCs. Anaheim and Chicago both won while their future core was on ELCs. Imagine what Gorton could have done if he didn’t have what 18m in wasted cap space.

If Gorton don’t want to commit monies beyond this year it’s easy to understand.

The Shatty contract was just a disaster. Staal's not much better.

Here's a really good write up in the Athletic about the Flyers lack of activity in free agency. It is behind a paywall, sorry:
Why have the Flyers sat out free agency? Making sense of their early inaction

I know its another team. But it honestly could have been written about the rangers. Its a good way to objectively assess our situation.

Cap crunch, bad fit with the center market, free agents passed on the team, poor market for their offensive right d, the main pieces are in place, fans are clamoring for a move.

If Kravtsov was a definite for NHL action sooner rather than later but as of right now I would be careful trading Buch.
I know Dzingel has had his goal scoring flashes in Ottawa but wouldn't trust him for top 6

Rangers wing depth is Panarin, Kreider, Kakko, Lafreniere. They wouldn’t need Dzingel in the top 6 even if Kravtsov doesn’t make it.
