9 and change once they move out Ghost.

I haven't seen anything credible about them and Laine. Fast is a given.
The Laine thing is super interesting. He is the big fish out there for sure. Listening to Rick Ralph being interviewed it seems like Laine is a goner. Of course he didn't come out 100 percent and say that but you could sense he was hinting at it.
In the East Montreal and possibly Philly could be fits. Philly would lose someone like Frost/Farabee and one of their better young d?

What if...and a big one.....but what if they could convert Lafreniere into a Center ? The kid obviously has the tools -IQ and desire to excel and after a period of time to let him get comfortable ....they give him some games at C . Maybe he could be a #2 Center and eventually a #1 C in 2 -3 years or so . By then Mika needs a new deal...Barron and Chytil have hopefully improved enough to then move up a notch. It certainly changes the look for us up front . Surely they have talked about this in head office ? Thoughts ? LOL..if nothing else it is something different to discuss...unless it has been brought up in the 10 pages I have left to read in this thread .

I've thought this too a lot. He is strong on puck, good with vision and super competitive, and if he truly is elite, I don't see why this couldn't be possibility. Of course it would have to happen step by step. There is not many cases who have done this, so odds are against it, but I would like to see this before I say anything against it. does anyone know any example? Centers have converted to wingers like Stamkos and Giroux, but I got nothing when I try to think other way around.

I think he gets moved too.

Neither of those locations would worry me and I don’t think either team is willing to move what it would take. Carolina however would scare the shit out of me.

Vegas would actually be better over the next two years buying out Fleury than trading him at 50% retained. His buyout would be $4.4 MM next year and $3.9 MM the following year vs. $3.5MM at 59% retained. Of course they would still have a $2.1MM charge for the years 3 & 4. I’m not sure they are going to find a buyer at less than 50% retained.

A Stasny buyout would cost $3.7 MM on the cap next year and $1.8 MM the following year Vs. a $6.5 MM cap charge if they keep him this year. Saves $2.8MM. Also creates a big hole on their second line.

They have a lot of moving pieces but if they want to shake up their roster, something will probably happen by next Saturday. Once free agency hits, markets change and potential partners start to disappear.

Yeah that turned into a shit show, nothing to do with your proposal.
Yea dude I think the people on the main boards have the IQ of 10 year olds. I like to throw out a trade prop every now and then but then it turns into running down the other teams player. There’s not a lot of healthy discussion on the main boards. It doesn’t help that DeAngelo has been in a ton of proposals and by HF standards that means the player sucks, but it’s a freakin trade rumors board. Where else are you supposed to post it lol? The Eichel one was getting ridiculous as well. People where asking for the thread to be closed cause they didn’t want to discuss dealing a player that has personally and publicly stated his unhappiness with the franchise. I get he is their star but Geez rough crowd

Well my point is really that we have names on both sides of the Calgary deal. We only have Vegas asking about DeAngelo. Big difference.

it is based on more but still lots of assumptions and jumping to conclusions...we know the names that both sides like but we are still making alot of guesses about whether or not the other side would be willing to give up those players for the offered price. It was brought up awhile ago, maybe months now. If it was as simple and straight forward as the flames want buchnevich and deangelo and are willing to give up monahan/lindholm and hanafin in the deal and the rangers wanted monahan/lindholm and hanafin and are willing to give up buchnevich and deangelo in the deal then the deal would be done already..in reality they could want deangelo in exchange for monahan but we are only willing to give up buchnevich for him and thing tony is too steep a price.

but my point is that people here have the really bad habit of taking something that was tossed out as a proposal and repeating it over and over and over until they convince themselves that the idea that they made up in their own head is actually a deal on the table. the deal may very well be on the table...but way too often people blur the line between what they think/hope and what they know.

If Barkov doesn't intend to sign in FLA, would they not be better served to trade him with some term left, rather than a rental?

Hypothetically speaking, would Buch, Chytil, Kravtsov and a 'LHD prospect not named Miller' be close?

I prefer Eichel to Barkov but Id love Barkov over Lanie and Barkov is way better than Lanie in my opinion. underrated.

Completely agree with your 2nd paragraph. Exactly what I was trying to say.

I think it's reasonable to assume that at least some of the hold up here is due to Pietrangelo. Vegas and Calgary are both linked to him and if either team can land him then it takes them out of the picture for DeAngelo. I'm sure there's gamesmanship on all sides to try and put pressure on but this feels like a situation that might not get resolved until next Saturday, if it gets resolved at all.

Any team trading for ADA is committing at least 5x5, in my estimation. Maybe more. I’d be surprised if Vegas does this. Unless they have a way to dump some contracts, or dump contracts for ADA.
It’s not impossible but aren’t they still pretty reliant on those higher-cost guys?
It just doesn’t seem like they’d be up for doing the gymnastics required to take on a long-term commitment. Not to mention the Rangers (I assume) aren’t letting ADA go for cheap.
