They need a PP catalyst. Any trade would have to have cash going out as well as a top prospect. Either Krebs or Glass, not both. Tuch is at $4.5MM for several more years. Reaves and McNabb also possibilities. Think like a GM.
I guess we shall see. All Vegas fans seem to feel Theodore is good enough on the pp. would Ada give them a bit more offensive pop on the pp rather than Shea? Maybe but not at the expense of adding their best center prospect.

Vegas is a win now team. I don’t exactly care for the way they are building their organization, but if the Rangers can take advantage of their impatience, I’m all for it.

I think them going to the Stanley Cup final in their first year of existence distorted their view of where they are. Expansion teams, traditionally, are not that good so soon in their existence. I'm guessing the owner, who isn't exactly a hockey lifer and is unfamiliar with how things usually progress, is pushing the win now mantra. I think if the hockey operations people had their druthers, they would probably be more patient in their build.

Yes, they got advantages/access to better players in their expansion draft, they took advantage of other teams needing to get rid of a bad contract and getting back picks and prospects, getting the Golden Knights to not take "Player X" and having to give VGK a valuable asset to not take said player, and they and the NHL wanted them to be good right away to sell hockey in that market. But for the long term benefit of the franchise, going slower would've been a better road to take.

Won't they need a goalie though then? They would just have Halak for 1 more season and they don't have much in the system.

Well there's been talk they'd ride it out with Halak but with the number of goalies on the market they might be able to get a 1A/1B setup going on the cheap, assuming they can find a taker for Rask.

If, TDA is being shopped. And even one more year isn't in the cards for him hear.

This senario I could get behind a lot easier than Calgary and Monahan (Lindholm is another story.)

Even with Laf, JD and Gorts still push the "in the process" narative and I believe I read JD as quoted saying NYR is not even close to turning the corner yet.

If that is the case, Glass makes all the sense in the world. Krebbs I don't know too much about, but it sounds like he needs more time than Glass does to be a roster player. So either we get Glass and insulate him with Strome (not trade protections), or we get Krebbs and roll with Strome on a 2 - 4 year contract and re-evaluate once we know what Krebbs is. I won't speculate on the salaried vets in the return, a case could be made for any one of them as being useful.

I guess the problem is, Calgary is on a before FA timeline going by the Gaudreau thread on the main boards, and VEGAS is on a post FA timeline given the reports of interest in Pietrangelo.

I much prefer the Vegas deal is Lindholm is off the table.

Weren’t they pretty bad on the PP in the conference final and semi final?

I’m sure GM thinks that possibly Ada and maybe Buch or Goat could help get them over the edge.
They certainly have interest in Pietrangelo but they will never be able to clear enough salary. That leaves Dumba and DeAngelo as options. I’m sure they are putting those teams against each other.

I feel like this "Vegas deal" has morphed well beyond fans just kicking around ideas and people are starting to act like it's confirmed to be on the table.

The talk was that Vegas asked about DeAngelo. There was never anything shared about names that were discussed. Just speculation based on the Rangers needs and previous interested in prospects during their draft years.

Not that it matters. People on here will be trashing Gorton for years to come because he "Passed on the Vegas deal for Monahan!"

well If the Vegas deal is the Savant special (DeAngelo and 22 for Krebs, stastny and Martinez) then yeah, I would much rather have Monahan.

I have to think a Stastny or Fleury buyout is coming. Probably Stastny.

If they buyout Stastny and send us McNabb in a trade, they can probably afford DeAngelo. Just a matter of what we’d get besides McNabb.
I don't think Stastny has negative value and he can be moved. I can actually see him coming here. We line up with needs and obviously they have been sniffing around Deangelo. I could see Stastny and Krebs/Glass with Deangelo being the main piece going back. McNabb maybe but the deal gets too complicated at that point. I guess the irony is they are clearing cap for a Pietro deal, do they want ADA as well in that case?

This is all true and a big reason why salaries and finances are going to play a part in who potentially gets moved.

For example, if you bring in an established second line center (warts and all), you have to move a contract out. You’re not just sending picks and prospects the other way.
What if...and a big one.....but what if they could convert Lafreniere into a Center ? The kid obviously has the tools -IQ and desire to excel and after a period of time to let him get comfortable ....they give him some games at C . Maybe he could be a #2 Center and eventually a #1 C in 2 -3 years or so . By then Mika needs a new deal...Barron and Chytil have hopefully improved enough to then move up a notch. It certainly changes the look for us up front . Surely they have talked about this in head office ? Thoughts ? LOL..if nothing else it is something different to discuss...unless it has been brought up in the 10 pages I have left to read in this thread .

Is Rask a goner because of the fall out during the bubble? or Cap reasons?
Halak is solid but no way are they good enough to win in the East without Rask and that is a win now team. Maybe they sign Hank lol

but that is true of basically every rumor ever discussed here...the calgary rumor started because edge mentioned that they talked and had heard a few names that we like and a few names that they like and then fans ran wild and made up a deal like it was a sure thing. but we have no idea if either side would be on board for the deal that we worked up ourselves lol
