Yes,, at 23 years old with the type of NHL experience and pedigree he has and the fact that he has been a solid top-4 d-man for a couple of years I would hope so.

That's like asking would anyone be bringing up Lindholm if he were a 3rd round pick? Of course, he's a good player.

Yeah but Hanifin isn't.

Hanifin-Andersson was much better than Hanifin-Hamonic this year. I didn't watch much of Calgary but was Hamonic a West Coast Staal? Oddly, in 2019 Hanifin-Hamonic was good. or is Rasmus Andersson the difference?

Have no clue

Chytil was PKing in the play-in round. Howden PK's as well. Zibanejad is an excellent Pker. It's not the end of the world if this other center doesn't PK.
Lemieux was suspended and Fast got hurt. Chytil was a 'last resort'.. I think he can become a great PKer though

The obsession of Danault here is wild. Absolutely wild. He is a 2C/3C tweener.
Danault is a really good player. He’s probably a 3C on a championship team but can certainly fill a 2C role. During the playoffs I remarked to no one in particular that I wished he was on the Rangers. You win in the playoffs with really good players. I don’t think Montreal will give him away but they have a sudden glut at center.

Yes, Hamonic was bad.

Corsi rel stats for this past year:

Hamonic
-2.4

Hanifan
0.6

So even with Hanifan playing the majority of his time with Hamonic, you can clearly see who was dragging the other down.

This is a solid take. Lindholm’s availability could depend on how much Treliving wants DeAngelo.

D isn't actually their weak point at this moment, Gio is year older, but i think he is going to bounce back. They have lot of trust for Andersson and Välimäki to take big steps soon. Andersson has already, and he is going to play that PP1 surely, and they could always bring back Gustafsson, Brodie, or Hamonic. So I don't really get some of these trade proposals when people are pushing ADA to them and saying give us everything you have. ADA is god, Monahan + Hanifin or no deal. That is not going to happen. Its pretty obvious they wanna shake their core from front. That's why Gaudreau and Monahan are on the block.

Maybe ADA is interesting option for his age and RFA-status, but that is not necessity for the flames. So I think Buch is that piece, what they maybe are after.

I honestly rather keep ADA for next year. Give him 3 years $15M and re evaluate. A LOT can happen in a year.

I'd rather go a safe and boring route like trading for Bonino and Ekholm. '

Add a solid vet foundation to allow the kids to be kids.

3 years takes him right to UFA.

I don't really think Andersson is cut out to be a PP1 defenseman. He's much more of a shutdown player

Had a conversation with a Flames fan recently and as far as he was concerned Lindholm was their best forward and he cited the Flames GM as having said of Lindholm that he wished he could clone him 18 more times. So I got the idea right there that getting Lindholm from the Flames is a pipe dream.

Onto Monahan--I'm not a hater of Strome but I certainly would prefer Monahan over Strome. Two of the dings that people are crediting Monahan with--bad defensively, not a great skater are actually things that Strome gets dinged for too. Monahan is just a more dangerous player and as long as he and Panarin could create some chemistry and I don't see why they wouldn't because Panarin brings out the best in players he plays with. Monahan would give us a solid 2C for at least 3 years and allows Chytil's game to blossom at his own speed.

Rangers are going to need at least one LD. I mentioned Dillon a few days back along with Krug (who I saw as very unlikely) and Borowiecki as LD's I'd be interested in as UFA's. Dillon would size, strength and real toughness to our blue line. We need an LD who can do that. Hanifin OTOH at 23 playing a position we have a need for sounds like a good option.

So something around Buch and DeAngelo for Monahan and Hanifin--Yeah I think I'd do that. Wait and see still on Dillon--or a temporary RD free agent to replace DeAngelo for a year or two.
