Count me in on Hanifan for sure, I'm just not loving Monahan but I understand the need to trade from strength and back-fill with young talent. Honestly, it would seem that if Gorton went in another direction, say Vegas, he would be almost required to complete (2) trades. ADA to Vegas and then Buch somewhere else. And that assumes he can get a good young center from Vegas like Glass or Krebs + and a LD somewhere else.

So let's ask this question, what do people prefer:

ADA + _______ for Krebs + Tuch

Buch for Hanifan

OR

ADA + Buch for Hanifan + Monahan

The former.

Are we sure there's no way to get Glass and Krebs??

It’s amazing how many people don’t want a fairly consistent young 30 goal 35 assist center with size and a willingness to drive the net.

I don't see many people saying they wouldn't take the player, just the cost to acquire and how they fit.

What may be driving this a bit is that Monahan hasn't played THAT well without Gaudreau and Gaudreau may be on his way out. They may be pessimistic that Monahan's value will rise from where it is if he has just an okay season next year without Gaudreau there

The odds of the Rangers make at least a decently sized deal is somewhere around 85 percent, but before the draft? Too many variables.
at this point it seems the whole league is waiting for the draft before pulling some triggers. Totally lame.

I want him. He's not a great 1C but as a 2C he'd be one of the best in the league.

He's also got an elite head of hair and will fit in nicely with our salad-heavy team philosophy w/ Panarin, Zibanejad, and Trouba among other.

(assuming we're talking about Monahan)

Wonder if the Rangers feel they won't have a chance at Dillon and move forward with a trade sooner.

Think there's a chance Gorton is waiting to see other shoes drop around the league (like Dillon or other UFAs) before pulling the trigger on any deal with Calgary

I'm sure of nothing. I was just creating the hypothetical based on what has been discussed.

For the record I'd probably prefer the first set of deals but then we have to remember Vegas will need to move cap so there may well be a cap dump or something along with Tuch + Krebs, how does that effect Gorton's plans.

So likely a deal that doesn't use 22 in that case?

Right now, I don't think any of these particular deals are riding on the 22nd pick.

I do think Calgary and the Rangers are potential pick swappers though. That much might exist somewhat seperate from broader talks.

He’s not panarin...but he’s not being paid like panarin and won’t cost a panarin package to get.

How? Dillon isn’t signing a short term deal

I meant long term as in those LD being the top 4 permanent pieces.
If you're talking you don't love signing him to a long term deal that's fine an understandable

Anything think if they're seriously considering resigning Fast it's because they KNOW they're trading Buch?

I’m surprised so few moves have been made. It’ll take one move for the dominoes to start falling me thinks.

I'm sure they'd like to bring Fast back but I don't think they're going to up their offer to him just because Buchnevich could/will be traded. I think they'll look to the outside to address that hole with someone who has a bit more offense to their game.

If Calgary is reluctant to part with a Center, I'm not sure that rules out the possibility of a DeAngelo/Hanifin based swap. Though I would certainly hope there is an attractive plus on the Calgary side.

DeAngelo, #72 for Hanifin, #19. Something like that. That might also give the Rangers enough ammunition to move up in the draft by packaging #19/#22. @Edge has mentioned in the past about Gorton being able to break down bigger deals into smaller ones...just a thought.

The obsession of Danault here is wild. Absolutely wild. He is a 2C/3C tweener.
He’s played at a 50 point level despite getting no power play time, difficult matchups, and having shit line mates.

he’s a good f***ing player who fits in well. Just because he’s not flashy doesn’t mean he’s a tweener. He’s easily a quality 2C.

he is overrated and not even that good, rather just bring back Brassard if they want someone like that. he actually is a better player.
