People really need to follow @Edge. When he drops an item like he did last night about Strome, we can put to rest the idea that the Rangers have any interest in signing Strome long term.

As of right now, they don’t have a desire to go long term with him.

I think they know they need something different there over the long haul and hesitate to spend too much.

@Edge had a lot of insight to this and other items a couple weekends ago. He basically covered every aspect of the organization from the intel he had.

And we had already been connecting dots with Calgary’s situation before that

Lindholm is someone the Rangers would love to add, the question is whether Calgary wants to make that deal happen. He’s been the top forward they’ve targeted.

However, at some point you have to move on. So we’ll see if they can make that happen.

Courtesy of @Edge. The Rangers and Flames have had a lot of discussions for a while now, and reportedly, both Lindholm and Hanifan have been asks from the Ranger side. (And they haven’t been rebuffed.). The Flames have expressed interest in Buchnevich, Hajek and Andersson.

And obviously the Rangers would need more than trio if they were to make an offer for Lindholm and Hanifin. As board it’s been speculated ADA could be floated there.

I asked some people if a bigger deal with Calgary was possible. The response was essentially that it might be too big of a deal, but that the interest in Lindholm was very high from the Rangers.

What about Georgiev to Calgary? They need a goalie.

Thanks for all the updates @Edge , im really hoping we can get a deal done. I would love to get Lindholm and maybe swap picks. Although if we took Greig at 19 I would be fairly disappointed.

I can’t say that connection has come up. But who knows where those talks could go.

Carolina was originally a conversation about Georgiev that morphed into deals involving Skjei and Keane.
Do you feel as though anything might be imminent? Understandably not the Lindholm negotiations but maybe something else?

Ottawa inquired about Strome, and the Rangers are listening. Putting everything together, if the Rangers can complete a deal for a 2C, (which can be inferred through the continued discussions with Calgary about Lindholm), then they would move Strome, probably for a couple of picks.
@jas is doing a bang up job to take some of the load off @Edge !

I wonder if the Rangers would look at a pretty simple deal like:

Strome for Anisimov + 2nd

Moving forward, Anisimov would be a pretty ideal 3C. Defensively he’s always been solid. He has played center and wing throughout his career and he has known chemistry with Panarin. I would doubt his next contract will break the bank so perhaps the Rangers would look to extend him for 2-3 years as a bridge to a couple of youngest guys grabbing bigger roles, be it Howden, Chytil, Andersson or whoever.

Of all the guys discussed for 2nd line, to me Danault is the best fit by far. He’s a great 5v5 player; very underrated. However the cost to obtain him + his salary requirements might be prohibitive.

his UFA status and how much it would take to extend him is the only factor that matters in the discussion...you can't make that deal if you can't keep him long term.

I agree with those that said Gaudreau makes absolutely zero sense for us...forget anything about him specifically as a player, why are we trading for another high priced LW?

the ONLY logical reason for him to be involved is if there is another deal and we feel that we are getting him at a discount and then can turn around and flip him in another deal to fill a need

One of the best things about that Hanifin contract is the complete lack of any trade protection. He's making second-pair money and is only 27 when the contract expires. It should be easy to move on from him eventually if he's part of a deal for Lindholm. I'd rather have Valimaki than Hanifin and I'd rather not include ADA in the deal as he is more valuable than any of the players thought to be involved.

cap friendly has a 8 team NTC in the final 2 years of his deal...but great point he is an extremely movable player & contract if he doesn't fit.

valimaki is an interesting name and would give Kakko a finnish friend lol...but I haven't seen much of him.

and i'd 100% would rather build a deal around buch for lindholm than ADA but not sure calgary would agree.
