Its not the only way to go, but having Zibanejad and Barkov as your 1-2 Cs under contract for the rest of their 20s while still having Sherterkin fresh off ELC and Kakko, Laf, Chytil is a strong start.

well, there is more than that with Panarin and Kreider contracts.

amazing - looking forever for stars south of 30 years and now we have too many.

nice problem to have but this will be tricky.

Good for you. I really hope you enjoy it. As for insinuating I borrowed something to buy my wheels, I will just say I owe nobody nothing. Cash is King in my world

That doesn’t mean he is good though. I certainly wouldn’t pay him more than Edmundson got.
Dillon is really good actually. Has been a solid top pair shutdown guy for years. Way, way better than a plug like Edmundson at least.

Is there a HF dick-measuring thread this topic would better complement

No I honestly, don't know what we're talking about.

The analogy was the Rangers already bought and paid for their really expensive "item."

Though now that I read it over and over, I am thinking he interpretted "we" as "me" and not the Rangers.

I think it's highly possible, maybe probable, Miller won't be what everyone thinks, ever, no matter how much JD likes how he skates.

In that he won't be a major offensive producer? Or in that he may never be a good NHL defenseman in any capacity?

Gorton stunned everybody. The best is the people I watched complain about 18 all year and are now mad that JG moved a second to do it. What? The NYR haven't had enough picks since 2017? LOL. Can't wait to see what happens next.

For me it’s a nobrainer for these two reasons:
(1) It’s at LD. We have no openings there. Now we have 1. That is good.

(2) If Gorton is willing to take a contract back for around 5 mil and 1 year — I am sure he can get a 2nd. Cap space is value.

At some point in the Jaguar/fancy car analogy to the Rangers roster, I think BBKers actually went out and bought one, and is now segueing into discussing literal cars instead of the Rangers roster.

Yeah, that's what I am starting to think too and it was really confusing for me.

So, let me take the premise back to it's roots - I think the Rangers already feel they have their luxury items and are looking for more functional components at this stage.

On to non car related issues. I think we will get some news on Hank this week - likely after the "SC tournament thing" is over. I have heard - quite a while ago - that this is issue has been settled between the parties.

I am still hoping for that Hank will go, if they can’t trade me to a contender before Camp I will retire.

That way he gets his 1 mil signing bonus. 4.5m is left on the table. 20% in escrow, that is 3.6m left. Under the buy-out rules, he would get 2/3 of that, it’s 2.4m. Graceful exist. It’s the right thing to do, he isn’t playing and nobody else wants him.

Any indication on what the settled upon outcome is?

Everyone speculated that Gorton might trade a pick for a player. Well in a round about way, he did. Pick to Detroit for $5.7MM in cap room that will almost certainly be spent on a replacement.
I wouldn't count on it, unless youre talking about replacements from within too.

What is the idea about getting Pietrangelo? Guy is gonna want 9 million plus in a flat cap. Why the hell did we go out and spend 8 million plus Pionk plus McMichael for Trouba? This is what I am really worried about. Making multiple mistakes with guys making lots of money. We gave Panarin his money (obviously fine with it). We gave Kreider his money (we've debated it to death if that was a good move) and we gave Trouba big money (Jury still out). I don't think we should or can take a chance on Pietrangelo. And obviously the term worries me even more.
