Assuming they lost a fortune, i wonder what Fla will do with their roster.

what a shame we don’t live in the days without a Cap. Barkov really would be coming here in a few years.
If Vegas can make a run at Pietrangelo, I dont see why we cant take a run at Barkov.

For better or worse... Miller makes the team next year IMO

On the one hand, this would be okay since next season is likely a wash for us and Miller would truly be pushed into the fire and have to adapt quickly.

On the other, rushing KeAndre could lead to the development of some bad habits, or causing him to change his game away from what he could be at his peak in order to survive and minimalize the egregious mistakes that he is sure to commit early on.

I think I'd rather he continue to hone his ideal game at the level that is appropriate re-his development, rather than d0ing what we did with Del Zotto and rushing him into a role that isnt ideal.

Anyone the think there's a chance that freeing up the $5.7 from moving Staal allows them to keep Fast? I know he's not a superstar but I would try to hold onto a guy like that as long as his ask isn't ridiculous

If his price is reasonable I think they would bring him back.

Dillon is a huge upgrade on everyone the team has had on LD in the last 18 months.
That doesn’t mean he is good though. I certainly wouldn’t pay him more than Edmundson got.

well, one is on the open market while the other would cost many prospects. Would likely lead to losing Zibby in a few years too.

i think staying the course best. Need to find complimentary players and keep it cheap

He is good though. You can not like him and not want to pay him and that's totally fine. But there's nothing to support the idea that he would be "more of the same" when it comes to what the Rangers have had recently on LD.

I mean once he's on the market. By then we should have some idea of what our cap room would be with Zibanejad extended.

I think it's highly possible, maybe probable, Miller won't be what everyone thinks, ever, no matter how much JD likes how he skates.

it absolutely puts it back on the table but it depends on the ask. in a normal year there is no doubt he'd get more $$ from someone else...but with the flat cap it might put him back in our range on a short (1-2 year) deal.

but my guess is that they view him as a luxury (right or wrong) and have higher priorities to address first. and then if the cap space allows it they would love to keep him.

Good for you. I really hope you enjoy it. As for insinuating I borrowed something to buy my wheels, I will just say I owe nobody nothing. Cash is King in my world

going to be tight. RFA list will be growing in addition to Zibby at that time

Zib UFA and almost the whole roster needs contracts with a flat cap.

Possibly. It was reported that Fast would take a discount for the Rangers, but we'll likely still need to make another move to make it happen.

This is with Hank bought out and both Strome and ADA getting 5 mil. That left defense is a liability.

And before you ask, yes, this shows us having 1.67 mil in cap space, and has Laf with a 3.775 mil cap hit. It's because of the way the bonus cushion works. In reality, we are only about 450k under the cap in this scenario. CapFriendly doesn't allow bonuses to be added when creating a player, and they don't account for bonuses that exceed the bonus cushion.

Its not the only way to go, but having Zibanejad and Barkov as your 1-2 Cs under contract for the rest of their 20s while still having Sherterkin fresh off ELC and Kakko, Laf, Chytil is a strong start.

I dont think Gorton will give Strome 5 million for any years

Move ADA to LD, and there isnt much to talk about.
