Speculation: - Jimmy Hayes Hearing Trade Rumors

NYR 1stOA pick for Brady Tkachuk + 3rdOA??

hmmm not sure what to think about this??? I do kinda like it although more should given from Sens in my opinion

Hayes is cousins with Tkachuk.
Apparently will never happen, but it is intriguing. We'd give up the better player, but our lineup would be so much deeper with Tkachuk and Byfield or Stutzle.

Tkachuk/Zibanejad/Buchnevich
Panarin/3OA/Kreider
Fast/Chytil/Kakko
Lemieux/Howden/Gauthier

Ah, the good old "Panarin has Strome to thank for the reason he was a Hart candidate". That one's always a good laugh
There is NO ONE here that said ANYTHING that comes remotely close to that. Oh, and that is just about as good to laugh at as "ANYONE can do it".

NHL history is littered with late bloomers that needed the right situation. This was a former #5 pick in the draft, not a talentless hack. If it were so easy, then why did Fast's numbers stay where they were?

If you place Chytil next to Panarin, does me morph into a 70 point player next year?

1) I don't think people are climbing all over themselves to trade Buchnevich. I do think that people see there are in-house candidates who could (or at least we hope) can move up and replace him.

2) The much better player has never matched Strome's best season. So I don't know how you can state that he's a significantly better player aside from personal preference.

The much player has never been gifted a season playing on the wing of Artemi Panarin. Pretty simple.

I'm glad that you enjoyed the laugh. It's important to laugh these days.

Whether or not you want to admit it, as easily as you want to to dismiss it, there is chemistry between to the two. Now, you can easily say "hell, anyone can play with Panarin and be productive." But that's not true. We've seen it time and again in this league that that's not the case. Look now further than what saw it here with Jagr after Nylander and Straka left.
It is important to laugh. And now laugh harder when you realize that how many times this debate has been regurgitated and how many times in the last 6 months did we mention those 3 names. And Gomez's.

There is chemistry between Buchnevich & Kreider/Zibanejad, but people are climbing all over themselves to trade him. And Buchnevich is a significantly better NHL player than Strome.
And that is even dumber. I like the parallel you drew though. It highlights the way people get entrenched here. Buchnevich was written off after he didn't blow the doors off his first season. He's been earmarked to leave since then. Strome has been written off since the trade. Assessments were written in stone and people refuse relent unless you make it utterly undeniable like Mika. And even then...

It's not like people are moving heaven and earth to keep Strome. It's always rooted in qualifiers. Reasonable contract. Short term. He has positional versatility so he isn't blocking anyone if they earn a spot.

Buchnevich I just don't get. He is blocking no one. He makes his line go. He's still trending up. I like how he's been developing his game. He should be higher up the list of priorities.

I cant answer that question any better than you could answer whether Strome, if removed from Panarin's line, could break 30 points next season.
You did not ask me the question. But yes, I am willing to bet big that he not only breaks 30 points but does so with relative ease. At a minimum., I can point to him being a 42 point player without the benefit of Panarin. So, yeah. Pretty comfortable in that.

Now answer about Chytil.

How many people have forgotten that Strome spent time on our 4th line before we signed Panarin?
How many people have forgotten that he was a 42 point player while playing on MULTIPLE lines, including the 4th line before Panarin was signed? That makes it even more impressive.

I simply love the need of extreme hyperbole to try to prove a point in the absence of anything tangible.
Its neither hyperbole nor intangible. Its taking the absurd argument of the original poster one more logical step in an attempt to demonstrate the absurdity of that argument to the original poster.

I fail to see absurdity in anything that Singin' said. His is logic as opposed to simply closing your eyes and pretending.
Your bar is low.
Does 42 points make a low bar?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Ottawa already say publicly that they wouldn't trade 3 & 5 for 1?

If so, why on earth would they do Tkachuk & 3 for 1?
One reason is that they cant afford real money for an extension for BT?

It is probably just speculation anyways, although if it was offered you know JG is sitting back knowing OTT would up the offer in the last hour...

It was @TheDirtyH you were replying to, not @SingnBluesOnBroadway.

Being impressed by Strome is a low bar, yes. He has underperformed for 90% of that contract he's on. He takes numerous dumb penalties and is regularly taken advantage of by opponent's top lines. He is not owed a raise.
