Not sure if this was posted in here before. Coyotes are in a bad spot. Salary needs to go out. Yes, there are others on shorter deals that can be moved maybe like Bjugstad was, but they've got no draft picks. New GM. They're going to move a bigger piece out.

Gorton needs to explore Dvorak. That would be a great piece to get back.

I would have been into Bjugstad at 2 million as a stand in for Strome at 2C. I think he'd put up better numbers.

You think Nick Bjugstad would put up better numbers than Ryan Strome as our 2C? He has played at a 35 point pace over the last 5 years and just a 26 point pace over the last 3 years. No chance he matches Strome’s production, even with Panarin at the hip.

Christian Fischer is another name I'd like. He can be had for next to nothing at this point. I also wouldn't hate a Stepan reunion for a year as a stopgap at 2C if Strome is moved for value in a separate deal. If the Rangers take on Stepan's full 6.5 million cap hit, I'd want another big piece coming back if the Rangers are forking over a top pick.

f*** it, let's get silly

To ARI:
Carolina 1st
Lias Andersson (for the lolz, make it full circle)

To NYR:
Jakob Chychrun
Derek Stepan at full salary
Christian Fischer

Strome gets dealt in a separate deal for a 1st next year or two 2nd's this year.

Rangers fill all of their needs in one fell swoop. Top 9 center? Check. Top 4 LHD? Check. Bottom 6 checker? Check.

Chychrun is a stud on a great deal. Probably the last player they would trade.

I kind of like the idea of bringing back Stepan for a year and moving Strome elsewhere. Fischer could be an interesting 4th line target as well, but not sure he’d have a place unless Fast doesn’t resign.

Dvorak is definitely the best target.

I know you’re tongue-in-cheek - and the premise is reasonable. But I have a quibble - I wouldn’t be moving Lias at this point. No value. And he may even grow back what value he had earlier. I’d be giving him time.

Prior to being stapled to Panarin's hip, Strome only hit 35+ points…once.

Switch Fischer to Crouse

Not impressed by Fischer. I like Dvorak, Chychrun is intriguing but gets hurt too much and might be too expensive. Garland is nice piece too

I'm here for a 1 year Stepan reunion. Much more responsible than Strome, but you won't get the same offense. Not the same skater, but it could work.

It's possible someone like Fischer needs a change, but he's a RW. At best, he's on the 4th line. He'd probably sign cheap, but that's exactly what the Coyotes need.

Car 1st for Dvorak is a foundation for a trade. They'll want a 1st for someone on their team. Would need to sweeten the deal. The gluttony of LHD prospects could come into play there. Wonder if they'd like Hajek.

People joke, but Lias Andersson would probably be a target for them. Keep him in Sweden all year. They don't have to pay him, could restore some value under their control.

Bjugstad has exceeded 14 points once in the last 6 seasons.

Ignoring totals, Strome’s point per game was also higher than Bjugstad’s in 4 of the 5 seasons prior to Panarin.

Strome is coming off a career year and proven chemistry. Totals, pace, no matter how you cut it, there’s no reasonable argument that Bjugstad steps in at 2C as a more productive player.

For the record, I’m still on the “we need an upgrade at 2C” wagon.

No, that's one that's always bothered me. My wife and I were on a weekend getaway in western Virginia during the draft, and we were specifically on Skyline Drive on day two, so maybe that's why the Kempe thing is a little fuzzy.
Some of the best of the smoky mountains.

Send out Strome for draft pick(s) somewhere.

Bring in Stepan and Dvorak.

I have a few people who are coming to visit me in PA to get away from NY and their cities.

Time will be spent together. Wine will be plentiful. Discussions will take place. I'm actually meeting one of them early in about 2 hours.

I say this with caveat that I will not be grilling them for hours with questions, and anything pre-draft is a subject to some level of confidentiality. And even then, I only get partial puzzle pieces prior to the draft.
Can we zoom in?

Doesn't dvorak make like 700k or something.

How does trading him make financial sense to them.

They need to dump Kessel or stepan...or both.

Dvorak makes $4.45m.

Stepan might be tradeable.

Kessel is not tradeable without not retention.

I think OEL is likely the the only big dollar piece moved.

Yes, I was being facetious about trading Lias. It makes no sense to do so at this time. Maybe he plays well in Sweden and either JD has another "come to Jesus" talk with him and he joins us for the playoff push, or worst case scenario builds his value for a trade next summer.

Ironically, he's the exact kind of player this forward corps needs if he has his head on straight.

To the others inquiring about Dvorak, I'd say he's Chychrun's forward counterpart. He's probably their most valuable forward outside of Clayton Keller all things considered. Gorts and Co LOVE Keller. Maybe Arizona is scared about what they'll need to pay him? Carolina 1st and any defensive prospect not named Lundkvist should be on the table for him. Start there. Maybe throw Strome in there too. But at what point are you scared of becoming the Leafs with three 10 million+ players and not enough depth to get the job done?
