Lemieux is going to be entering his third full NHL season. Room to improve. Remember he also may be the sacrificial lamb to Seattle.

I think Lemieux is a guy who is going to have more than a few nibbles from other teams.

Unfortunately, I think he'd also potentially be the cost if the Rangers wanted to move up in the draft.

I think he and Georgiev are candidates for that type of discussion, if not targets for other teams.
So would Anaheim bite on that combo?

Some of y’all really love Lemieux huh

If he’s the cost to trade up and snag a better prospect long term, see ya later Brendan. Look forward to seeing him always out of breath and doing dumb shit on another team lol

Kreider moving to the right side would make a lot of sense as well. Enables Laf an easy entry into the top 6 without things getting convoluted.

A line of Laf - Zib - Kreider is a short term downgrade for a long term major upgrade

Kreider also makes his living around the end boards and in front of the crease, so the main thing he would be losing is his transition passing and being able to take stretch passes going up ice, but I think we all figured that would settle down a bit with age

I doubt it happens right away, my thought is laf starts with Chytil and Fast to get some easier mins in.

I really like some of the elements that Brendan Lemieux brings but he's not one of our smarter players. The simpler he keeps things and the more he plays within his limitations the more effective he'll be. He does try to force plays too much and he also does the odd really colossally stupid shit like the hit on Donskoi. More self discipline would help him a lot. Stop forcing plays at the opposition blue line--soft dumps and then crash the boards--spend less time handling the puck and more time getting in the opposing goalie's grill. He should let his linemates do the fancy stuff.

So would Anaheim bite on that combo?

I dont think they need Georgi with Gibson, and if they wanted him it would be as a back up which would lessen his value.

If I'm giving up Lemieux to Anaheim I'm targeting Rackell in return as middle six upgrade on Lemieux.

Georgiev plus Lemieux for Rackell? Idk if that works for them. The money for us is a concern but the player is in the mould of a Gorton built team.

Well he's a 4th liner in an ideal world and now with our LW depth that's where he will be...

I think he has some value as a cap controlled RFA age player, but it certainly wouldn't be a huge loss if he was traded.

I think ideally Lemieux turns himself into a 3rd line Winger who PK’s. That’s been his ceiling for a while. Someone in the molf of Roussel or Prust

I would be hesitant to give up on Lemieux at this point.

I think he can at least settle in as a shit-distrubing fourth liner who impacts a game. Maybe even a third liner who brings those elements and pops in a fair share of points.

Lemieux is ideally someone that will be slotted on your 4th line and maybe play up on your 3rd line if needed. My main issue is not seeing a good fit for him right now in our bottom-6. I think his style is a terrible complement on Chytil's LW, and he and Howden were an absolute black hole defensively together.

Someone mentioned it above, but he needs to simplify his game to the point where he's almost playing with blinders on. He needs to focus on playing north-south and disrupting as much shit down low as possible since his bread and butter is being one of the best in the league at drawing penalties. I also think he has a pretty decent shot, which he should try utilizing more to create rebounds to fill a role on a crash and bang line. I think something like Lemieux-Howden-Gauthier could fill that type of role, but all three of them have some serious issues to work on, and I don't think we'll see it come to fruition here.

Why not Chara for a year if he becomes available?

Willing and able to be a teacher and even at his age, I don't think we have a better LHD.

if your building a team that wants to get to the playoffs and actually win some games, you want to keep a player like him. Like fast, he can move up to 3rd or 2nd line and not look out of place for a game or 2 depending on chemistry. But he should be an excellent 4th liner. It’s in his blood. Make no mistake, he’s not perfect, and he has to work on some things but they aren’t major roadblocks for him. I see him bumping between 3rd and 4th line this year while the team gets used to each other and the players figure each other out. They really really need a good 4th line center, Like a Bennett, Girgensons etc. someone with enough talent to pot 15 or so goals, fast, physical, good along the boards as well as on face offs and good on the PK
