I'm on team "roll with what we've got and make decisions next year." Ride out the Henrik/Smith/Staal contracts for their last years. Smith and Staal allow us to ease in Miller, Hajek, etc, and at the deadline, with retention, as expiring contracts, they may actually have a tiny bit of value in trade.
Georgiev should be traded. I fully anticipate that he will be traded at/before the draft.
The three decisions to make are around Strome, ADA, and Fast.
With ADA, it comes down to money and term. He's earned a raise. He took one for the team last year. But I want to see if one of ADA/Fox/Lundkvist can switch to LD before giving him a big money, long term deal. He's not going to like it and he may not accept it, but Gorts needs to get ADA on a bridge deal of some sort (2 year, ideally).
With Strome, I really want to see Chytil have a shot at that 2nd line center spot. As long as Strome is here, he'll be stapled to Panarin, which complicates things a bit. If Strome is willing to accept a low-ish money short-ish term deal to stay, then I'm all for it. Otherwise, trade bait at/before the draft.
With Fast, I'd love to keep him. He's a perfect 4th liner who can play up when needed. It comes down to money. We won't be able to offer what he can get from someone else. Puck's on his stick--he can stay for what we can offer or leave to cash in. No hard feelings either way, as he's been an excellent Ranger.
