Who is untouchable in the AZ fire sale at this point other than Hayton and Chychrun?

Has there been any more reports on this? I could have missed something, but the basis for the talks about there being a fire sale to start with seems very thin from my POV. Starting a rebuild without a 1st round pick for 2 years will be a very stiff task.

OEL is on the trade bait board. I wanted to be nice and send Trouba to his hometown. But what do we need to add to swap Trouba for OEL?

Hate to do a spellcheck but whoas for woes is too egregious.

The reason why Strome Fast Panarin work is Panarin---Panarin makes everyone he plays with better. Seriously I prefer Fast in more of a checking role than on a scoring line. If Panarin had a for real right wing who could score goals he'd be even more dangerous. The thought has occurred to me also having Panarin on the right wing and Lafreniere on his line on the left. Keep Zib with Buch and Chris and Fil and Kakko with somebody else.

I'm not convinced Gauthier is an NHL level player and Kravtsov certainly hasn't proven to be yet. My hope is that Kakko will fit in as 2RW next year--he did look better when September came around.

Word bird....nobody likes a word bird

They almost certainly will be cutting salary. Owner in difficult financial straits. May be a stretch to call it a fire sale though.

As I said earlier Gorton must go get Dvorak at all cost. I see another Zibanejad type deal. High ceiling offense, good on draws and will be perfect with Panarin. I have no issue giving up Kravtsov, Jones, Reunanen, Andersson, Howden and players like this. I'd do Chytil one on one if I had to. Dvorak's offense like all Yotes has been ruined. He's a beast waiting to break out.

An NHL team in Arizona was always a terrible idea.

Why we're expanding when there are franchises like AZ, Carolina, and others in dire need of a move I'll never know.

If the team offers Fast a 3 years x $3m deal and front loads it with signing bonuses as well it’s easily moveable in that final season. He provides cheap insurance all over the roster as kids progress, whether that be as a top-6 winger or bottom-6 winger.

I would think that if the Rangers offer Fast that deal and he accepts, he will be a Ranger next year and a Kraken the following...

I'm on team "roll with what we've got and make decisions next year." Ride out the Henrik/Smith/Staal contracts for their last years. Smith and Staal allow us to ease in Miller, Hajek, etc, and at the deadline, with retention, as expiring contracts, they may actually have a tiny bit of value in trade.

Georgiev should be traded. I fully anticipate that he will be traded at/before the draft.

The three decisions to make are around Strome, ADA, and Fast.

With ADA, it comes down to money and term. He's earned a raise. He took one for the team last year. But I want to see if one of ADA/Fox/Lundkvist can switch to LD before giving him a big money, long term deal. He's not going to like it and he may not accept it, but Gorts needs to get ADA on a bridge deal of some sort (2 year, ideally).

With Strome, I really want to see Chytil have a shot at that 2nd line center spot. As long as Strome is here, he'll be stapled to Panarin, which complicates things a bit. If Strome is willing to accept a low-ish money short-ish term deal to stay, then I'm all for it. Otherwise, trade bait at/before the draft.

With Fast, I'd love to keep him. He's a perfect 4th liner who can play up when needed. It comes down to money. We won't be able to offer what he can get from someone else. Puck's on his stick--he can stay for what we can offer or leave to cash in. No hard feelings either way, as he's been an excellent Ranger.

Trouba probably didn't have his best season this year but it's not like the Rangers entire defense isn't a work in progress. Two rookies in Fox and Lindgren--then Smith and Staal---DeAngelo who's improved overall and become a really fine offensive player but never kills penalties or gets stuck with anything serious as far as defensive situations.

Trouba is our main matchup guy and also the guy on our right side who is going to get the lion's share of penalty kill time. He is also by far our most physical defenseman--someone who actually is capable of controlling the area in front of our net. He's not going to get shoved around anyway. So he serves a purpose and until we have someone else who can serve the same purpose we're not likely going to move him.

*and until we have someone else who can serve the same purpose [as well as he does] we're not likely going to move him.

He's criminally underrated for what he brings.
