On a serious note, and this is the hill i'm willing to die on: DeAngelo's offensive production is not sustainable without the continued defensive liabilities he creates when he's on the ice

Let me be the first to tell you to RIP.

I’ve seen defensive defenseman fail to do their job consistently in their early 20’s. Despite this being a shortened season due to Covid, this was ADA’s longest season with 68 games played.

Tony was not just raw when Gorton acquires him, he also had some shitty tendencies in his own zone. Quinn deserves a lot a credit for helping round out his game. Tony deserves some credit too, especially last year when he was in and out of the lineup yet never erupted and bitched and complained.

Tony will continue improving his play defensively. Like many others have said, he’ll never be that rock defensively, but he’ll add a special element that makes him unique and valuable to the team.

Your hatred for him is on par with Jova’s hatred for Trouba. You have to sometimes accept the fact that most players have their strengths and weaknesses.

At which point a Strome for Brodin deal makes sense.

Which then leads to a need for a RW. Mantha would fit a style the team needs more of.

Are you trying to compare Krug and Deangelo? They aren't comparable, its not even close.

Huh? Where have I said I hated DeAngelo? My only argument has been consistently that I think DeAngelo is the odd man when it comes to the future of this team, and that the Rangers should trade him while his value is at its highest. If he wants to sign short-term on a team friendly contract, then fine. If he wants term and $5M+ no thanks.

If it seems like I hate him it's because I have to fend off arguments comparing him to Cale Makar

I'm going out of my way to provide evidence as to why DeAngelo shouldn't be considered part of the long term future of this hockey team when a majority of people seem to be in favor of retaining him at $5M+. Plenty of others have used his point production to justify him staying with the team
